Worried that the next disappointment will be my Spring grades, but this was expected.

Yeah I was dinged too. It was expected I suppose, though I had to laugh at the fact that they basically said even if I got a 4.0 next semester and finished #1, we still don't want you. This is crazy competitive.
That said, Columbia is my top choice, so maybe it was a good thing, assuming my grades hold. But I'm a nervous wreck about those.

I'm not sure that anyone has ever figured out what "consistent performance" means--I don't think it's ever really been tested very far. I know people in my transfer class who certainly slipped a bit, but not quite this much. I doubt the drop will kill you, but that's just random speculation on my part. I think you could've been in trouble if that A- had been a B or B-.snuffy smith wrote:alright. A- in con law. 3.23 for the semester, 3.6 for the year. curve is a B+. historical top 10% is like, 3.6...? i believe. FML?
TToN, what say you?
Good thing you applied ED!

FYI Journal writing competition opened today. Like HLS they don't do a separate one for transfers. They limit it to 2 transfers on LR but I've heard even that is a stretch.

You'd be better off spending your time reading up on some good ol' Posner

Re: Chicago Transfer ED 2012
I'm assuming you ED kids filled out the same application as my regular decision one ...
Now that you've had some hindsight, do you recommend that I truthfully fill out all of the other T14 schools I'm applying to? Is there any way that this can backfire?

It can backfire if you do not ED somewhere were you have a realistic shot getting into. Like for me I should have ED'ed at USC....

Yo -
If any transfers are looking for a furnished apt for the month of August (i.e. during OCI before most regular leases will be available for the school year) holla at'cha boy. My roommate and I did this in August 2010 when we transferred. Living in a crappy place or on a couch during OCI sucks. Our information should also be available through admissions.
Congrats to everyone who got in ED and good luck to all the regular decision transfer hopefuls! Transferring was the single best decision I ever made.

Also, TToN: CJIL is STILL fucking going. STILL. FML.

For people who were on hold after early decision, what does your Chicago status checker say now? Mine hasn't updated since going on hold. Other people in the same boat, or have your checkers updated?

Mine still has HOLD too. I would think they have received my LSAC final transcripts- plus I even sent them an email of my grades as soon as I got them.
Do you think we need to check to make sure they received our transcripts from LSAC?

Deferred ED. Called them yesterday. They told me that they don't need anything additional (besides spring grades) and not to worry about the status not having updated.

For future reference:
Admitted ED, Loyola/Kent, 1st Sem - 3.9, Top 2%
2nd Sem - 3.5 for the Semester, 3.69 overall, Top 10%
My admission was confirmed today so I wanted to give people an idea about an acceptable drop
I look forward to meeting some of you in August. I may have a room available in my apartment. I'm in Wicker Park and will be commuting. PM if intereted.

Has anyone figured out housing so far? I'm Having a hard time deciding between regents or a smaller building that's cheaper or grad housing.
I'm thinking regents just so I can meet people although it's very expensive and the management company gets poor reviews. Anyone, thoughts?

Do not live in Regents. Just don't. It was barely a passable deal before they eviscerated the student discount--it's fucking horrible now.
