me too, i'm dying. my boyfriend is applying for jobs out there, and if i can't go with, i'll cry. i didn't put it in my statement because he doesn't have the job(s) yet, so i felt it would be lying-ish. please take pity on a breaking heart, berk.

I take the excruciating silence as a sign that it's all pretty much over.
Granted, we have about an hour before Admissions calls it another day. But given the July 5 deadline that acceptees have mentioned, I'm betting that Boalt's offered all it's gonna unless and until some of the accepted turn them down.

I'm also in at Boalt.
Low T14, around top 15-20%
Happy to get in but the July 5th deadline is killing me. What are my chances at HYS?

Re: Boalt Transfer Thread for Fall 2011
I'm not applying to Boalt, but isn't it fair to call Boalt itself "Low T14" at this point? Not sure what your reasons are, but if they are anything close to the usual transfer reasons, (jobs/clerkships/academia/prestige) you're probably better off just holding out for HYS, regardless what your chances are at getting one.lawschoolhopeful91 wrote:I'm also in at Boalt.

If the kid is doing this well at that good a school your post is stupid. Typical of TLS. Maybe he wants to be in sf?Wholigan wrote:I'm not applying to Boalt, but isn't it fair to call Boalt itself "Low T14" at this point? There are a ton of reasons he may want boalt. Why speculate.

Relax, dude. I left my comment open-ended in case there is some other reason, and I was perfectly polite. On the other hand, I love how you say "why speculate" after proceeding to speculate youself that he wants to be in SF. After he just said he would take any of HYS, which are in completely different parts of the country. So whose post is stupid after all?Headybrah wrote:If the kid is doing this well at that good a school your post is stupid. Typical of TLS. Thanks for the responses. You're both right: I want the usual boost in job/clerkship opps, but I'm also particularly interested in the SF market/being in SF. Any other advice?

Re: Boalt Transfer Thread for Fall 2011
Ask yourself this question first. How unhappy are you with your present school? If you feel Berkeley will provide you with the community you have been missing, then I say commit to Berkeley.
Ultimately, if you do well at a lower t14 (and you are), it might take a little more effort, but you will surely get a good job in SF. So, given your situation, I don't think such a move would justify more objective costs such as moving, losing contacts and relationships, and rerooting yourself (you might be from SF and that might not be an issue).
If I was in your position, and I wish I was, I would hold out for HYS. Otherwise, it is just a lateral transfer. A decision to go to Berkeley can only be justified by the intangibles. If those intangibles are decisive, then I say you would have made a good decision to go to Berkeley.
Hope that helps my friend.

Thanks, you make some good points. I definitely think Berkeley would be a good fit for me and I'd be happy there, but I don't wanna sell myself short if I've got a good shot at HYS...

I think you do have a very decent shot at HYS... did you apply to all three?

Is it as dead out there re: Boalt news as this thread?
No one who went under review after the 15th has heard anything, right?
