Anyways, intransigent and unwilling are different - intransigent is like, won't budge, unwilling... I mean, they're close, but intransigent is more of a sticking to a policy whereas an unwilling is like an unwilling to deviate from it.

I don't have a Funk & Wagnalls. I looked it up online, and I got: intransigent, "unwilling or refusing to change one's views or to agree about something."

I was admitted to a non-JD program at Columbia yesterday. (I'm interested in a joint JD, which requires independent applications.) Today, I received a request for $3,000+ advanced deposit to the non-JD program. No joke. 100% serious. There's no way I'm paying that without a JD acceptance offer.

Anyone have advice for me on my predicament? My assigned Columbia advisor is no help whatsoever.

When is the deposit due? Call them and ask for more time - explain your situation, it can't hurt.

Is it time to be glum already? I feel like they haven't really made all that many acceptances yet. Wrong?

It takes 5 to 7 business days following your paid deposit for them to send the email with the student ID. However, you can pretty much ask the office and they'll give you your PID and your UNI anyway. That's what I did at least.

Just turned down my spot at Columbia. Hope I made the right choice. Best of luck to the TLS Columbia hopefuls and those who've already accepted!

Between Columbia and Berkeley, there was really no wrong choice to be made. Good luck man, and congrats!

BK - what were you choosing between?

If I haven't heard from Columbia by now... should I be expecting to hear anything positive?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
