No reason to call at this point. They typically release the first batch of acceptances on the Monday after the 4th of July. All we can do is kick back, relax, and wait.

Just got word I won a legal writing award (1 of 3 awarded) from the dean of my school. Worth an email to the admissions committee with the update? I'm leaning toward not since I imagine decisions are largely made at this point.

I doubt decisions are finalized at this point, I can't imagine why HLS would wait to notify admitted students once it has chosen to accept them. I think it's worthwhile to call the admissions office and tell them about the award, it couldn't hurt and may help.

Uhmm they release most of the decisions all in one day. Since they didn't make all those decisions that day then they definitely make decisions quite early one by one.Longtimecoming19 wrote:thepriceis wrote:Just got word I won a legal writing award (1 of 3 awarded) from the dean of my school. They release most of the decisions all in one day. Until that day, their decisions are preliminary and are necessarily subject to change. It is certainly possible that once a preliminary acceptance/rejection decision has been made, there is very little that can change it. It is even possible that nothing can change it. However, we don't know. There is nothing to lose by notifying the admissions office about the legal writing award, and potentially something to gain.Ken Kesey wrote:Uhmm they release most of the decisions all in one day. Gotta agree. Not going to hurt him and it could help. I, unfortunately, feel like I'm going to be screwed. My school still hasn't released class ranks yet. If they don't release them tomorrow, they won't be released in time if Harvard sends the decisions out on Monday like they have in the past. Sigh. So much for kicking back and relaxing...Longtimecoming19 wrote:They release most of the decisions all in one day. ^Maybe you don't have to feel too stressed. Harvard doesn't require your class rank, do they? I assumed that they could roughly estimate your rank based on your GPA/school and would just go from there.

I hope you're right. But I'm not feeling too confident that they'll accept me without my rank. And that might put me behind the eight ball. The only thing I can hope for is if they think I have what appears to be the grades that they'll plan on having a spot for me when my rank comes out.wafflehausenberg wrote:^Maybe you don't have to feel too stressed. But with it being Harvard, it's just hard for me to feel good about it. Especially since it is completely out of my control. That's the part that frustrates me the most. I worked hard to earn my grades 1L year. I spent time and money on the applications. I made sure all the materials that were available were in. All those things were in my control. This isn't. I'm at the mercy of someone else and it's just hard to accept. Especially since our grades and GPAs have been out for over a month. I just don't get what takes so long with the ranks.
Things in my control don't stress me. Things out of my control do. I just hate being at the mercy of someone else.
Plus Harvard is my #1 choice. I don't expect to get into Yale or Stanford but if I did, I think I'd still choose Harvard. So that's not making it any easier.

Re: Harvard Transfer Thread 2015
Ivy league universities have incredibly sophisticated admissions standards and procedures - among the most sensitive in the world. You really think they are going to dismiss or disfavor your application because your school hasn't published one data point? First, they receive hundreds of transfer applications every year: admissions knows what your GPA at your school means, roughly. Second, if the like what they see they'll just call and request your rank or wait for it to come in. If this was a federal judge or something, yea, maybe a random mild inconvenience or missing stat could impact you. But you're dealing with a system that's designed not to respond so rashly. I really, really don't anticipate this being a problem for you. Calm yoself.lawman84 wrote:I hope you're right. But I'm not feeling too confident that they'll accept me without my rank. That's pretty much what my mom said last night. And then she told me that I'm a special snowflake. I know that Harvard will probably not admit anyone until next week, but I'm still checking my status checker every hour. This is becoming a problem.

I've heard that it boosts your chances of getting in if you check more often. Shows you really want to attend their school.PourMeTea wrote:Reminder: adcomms can see how many times you checkmorrison124 wrote:I know that Harvard will probably not admit anyone until next week, but I'm still checking my status checker every hour. Adcomms using a status checker 'counter' to influence their decisions? The paranoia on TLS is getting out of hand lol
