Accepted today via email. I have to accept by July 5 with no deposit required. Likely accepting unless I get NYU or Columbia where my partner is studying.

I dunno. I see it kind of differently. With a lot of CA acceptances, they might be looking for regional diversity.keg411 wrote:With all of the CA acceptances, there is ZERO chance Berkeley is taking my east coast self.
I really wasn't expecting to be contacted in the first wave anyways. My GPA is definitely on the bubble.

Admissions Office opens in about 30 seconds. I think today is the day for lots of movement.
If only I could check my personal e-mail from work.

Physically can't check the email, or ethically won't check your email?FireNextTime wrote:Admissions Office opens in about 30 seconds. I think today is the day for lots of movement.

Re: Boalt Transfer Thread for Fall 2011
It's interesting that they moved up the response deadline from 7/15 to 7/5. That will certainly put some people in a bind, as other schools will certainly *not* have gotten back to people by the 5th.

Its def a good strategy on their part. Would you risk declining an offer from Berk to see if you got into Stanford? I dont think I could take that risk...missinglink wrote:It's interesting that they moved up the response deadline from 7/15 to 7/5. Instead, I just keep refreshing my status checker, which I for some reason CAN access.

Re: Boalt Transfer Thread for Fall 2011
I've been wary of sharing this rumor, since that's what it is. And like third-degree rumor at that.
But a co-worker has a friend who transferred to Boalt last year. He said she said (!) that transfers did well enough at OCI that the "regular" students got pissed. Supposedly the administration told them that they would cut the transfer class this year.
Two good reasons not to believe this. First, the Telephone Game effect here is probably outrageous; this thing probably very out of whack to what, if anything, the administration actually said about transfers.
Second, Boalt, like most law schools, has budget problems. And transfer students are budget solutions. Would you turn down free money just to satisfy existing students who already have - supposedly - been harmed by your transfer policies? No. And would you be worried about rising 2Ls who might be angry - and unreasonably so - if you bring in a sizable transfer class? Of course not. They're locked in already. What are they gonna do?
On the other hand. It's possible. Anybody else hear anything like this?
