I understand it is strange to here such a thing but there are other personal issues involved.

Two things:
1. there are at least 3 loyolas.
2. wtf?
If you're talking about transferring down significantly then I guess top half to be safe, top 2/3rds might do it.
Fair enough, PM Danteshek about transferring into Loyola-LA, he transferred there from Southwestern and wrote on to the law review.

Georgetown EA 75% They'll probably take you EA, and almost certainly RD if deferred.
GW - 90%
Since you're coming from a VA school and shooting for D.C. I would also recommend UVA (60%).

Hmm I haven't even thought about going to UVA. Their site seems pretty anti-transfer by the looks of it. How drastically do you estimate these chances would drop if I fall out of the top 5%?

Yeah, truth be told the past data suggests they really only consider candidates from VA schools or with significant ties to VA. However, since these are really the only candidates they consider, there's a much smaller group in contention for their 15 or so spots. I think you have a great shot even if you fall to top 10% or slightly below.

Hi all,
I received a 3.8 for Fall semester which places me in the 5-10% range for my class (closer to the 5% cutoff than the 10%). My school is one of the schools tied for #28, and quite obviously not BC.
My fiancee is from Boston, and she is set to remain there indefinitely for education/career/family reasons. Thus, I'd like to move back to Boston and settle down there. I went to BU for undergrad and have a patent bar-worthy degree, so I have a personal connection to Boston besides my fiancee.
What are my chances at getting into BU or BC? I know it's a lateral transfer rank-wise, but the consensus seems to be that it is very difficult to get into either school as a transfer because both schools have tiny transfer classes.
And if my eventual goal is Boston, should I consider applying to other schools in the T-14 to improve my chances of landing a firm job there? Do any of the law schools in the T-14 have a higher percentage of students who break into the Boston legal market? Obviously Harvard would be king but I know I'm not even in the running for that as I got a B in Crim. Law last semester.

You will get one of BC/BU. You have much higher grades than needed for a lateral, plus you have ties which will make you one of the more competitive transfers at OCI.
You're right about HLS - probably out unless you move into top 5%, but still worth the app IMO. Other T14 which anecdotally place well in Boston: Cornell, Columbia, UVA, Penn. I think you have competitive numbers for all of them.

I think I know which school you're talking about and I think it's likely that its medians caused it to be treated more like a T2 than a T1 for transfer admissions. The GPA/LSAC numbers of a class seem to be more important than the USNews ranking of the school.

Great info. I've often wondered about this. How substantiated is it?

Which school is this? Could you PM me if you'd rather not state it openly?

3.800 (#2 out of about 180) at Top 50.
(Had a 171 LSAT but bad undergrad GPA... If this matters at all)
Chances at HYS CCN?

Not sure, so few students post their transfer schools on transferapps/TLS to know for sure, but it seems to hold true based on limited anecdotes. Hopefully xfactor can weigh in on this.

Chances at HYS CCN?
H - 50%
YS - 30%; if you end up #1 you definitely have a shot at both.
CCN - 75%

At T25 school (famous for nobody transferring out), top 30%, approx.
Chance me.
Chicago
Northwestern
WUSTL
Vanderbilt
Harvard (just because my momma would be so proud)
Edit: Obviously trying to pull it up a bit second semester.

My guess would be an almost definite rejection at Harvard (though im sure you already know that) Chicago and Northwestern. Though if you pull it up a bit you def could get into Vandy or WUSTL. Howeverim not sure wha T25 is worth leaving for WUSTL

Agreed. I think WUSTL would probably take you EA, but unless you really want to work in STL i'm not sure I see the point. Very curious what T25 is "famous" for no one transferring out... Yale? Oh, well in that case...

Guess I made the new account for a reason... UIUC. Love the people and the place, but I can't move during the summer, so I need a school in some sort of market. I picked the chicago schools because I thought UIUC might have more pull, but I wouldn't mind a school in a relatively large market, but lower COL. Hence Vanderbilt and WUSTL.

Interesting... Well, less transfer competition will definitely be in your favor. Definitely a shot at WUSTL/Vandy, but I still think you'll need to break top 10-15% for Chicago/NW. I know at least one person transferred from UIUC to UChi last year. Good luck.

Current school: WUSTL
Target schools: T14 (Preferably CCN/Cornell/UT/Georgetown)
Current rank: top 20%
(Assuming I do well in 2nd semester I should be able to get it into top 15%)

Why not EA to Georgetown? I'd guess you have a 40-50% chance with that top 5% designation.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
