10-11 people make it on to Law Review via the write-on (19-20 grade on).
~20 people make it on to each secondary, though I forget the exact number.

Is there anyway to know when offers go out for the secondary journals? Is the best option to watch the forums and try to see if someone has been notified?

I (might) be making some of the calls for CJIL, though the EIC may decide that she has enough time to do all of them. Either way, I'll post when I hear that offers for CJIL have gone out. No promises that I'll found out right away, though.

Thanks I really do appreciate that. I mean I would much rather find out by receiving an offer but at least I won't have to wonder too much about whether or not they made offers yet.ToTransferOrNot wrote:I (might) be making some of the calls for CJIL, though the EIC may decide that she has enough time to do all of them. Initial calls are going out now for both journals. Not sure when they started or when they will end, as I'm not making them. Some calls might be made tomorrow, depending on how acceptances go down, etc.

Thanks for the head's up.
On the off chance that someone is offered a spot on both journals, is there a consensus as to which is more desirable/prestigious? Or is it purely a matter of personal preference/interest?
I know I'm getting far ahead of myself, but I am curious.

Re: Official University of Chicago Transfer Class 2012
There is a considerable amount of overlap on secondary acceptances (I was accepted to both, myself). A lot of your decision should be based on Legal Forum's symposium topic for the year: if you don't like their topic, you probably want to do CJIL. I have no idea what Legal Forum's topic is this year.lurker12 wrote:Thanks for the head's up.

As far as whether one or the other is more prestigious--there's no concensus that I'm aware of. CJIL isn't considered one of the absolute top international law journals. Legal Forum doesn't really have a good comparison, because the "new topic every year" model they run on is a bit abnormal. Whatever "prestige difference" there is here is going to be irrelevant. The one point I would make -- now out of hindsight -- is that finding a good topic for CJIL is just tough, because international law doesn't really.. do anything. But eh. Do whichever you prefer.

Is it half the work? I didn't realize the Forum only had one cite check/pub cite a year?iwantawhiteiphone4 wrote:Do Forum. ~Half as much work for the same resume boost.

My information is based on asking staff members how much time they spent doing journal work. I'm not sure whether the Forum "contract" says one cite check, but that's what my friend did.

Re: Official University of Chicago Transfer Class 2012
Did any of you guys submit your resume to career services for review? I sent mine Monday (kinda late), and they haven't got it back to me yet. Anyway, how do you list U of C on your resume? I've seen it written as University of Chicago, the Law School, The University of Chicago Law School, University of Chicago Law School and even The University of Chicago, the Law School.
How did you guys do it?

I'm a native rising 2L, and mine has always gotten past OCS as "The University of Chicago Law School." So seconded.
Congrats to you new journal members! The writing competition this year was apparently fierce, so you should be really proud. I hope they publish those mastheads soon so that I can congratulate the people I know.

Mine got past OCS as "University of Chicago Law School"--so I think you'd be fine w/o "The" at the beginning. I've always found "The" at the beginning of schools names to be a bit pretentious.
Also, congrats to those who made journals. Does anyone know if the CJIL masthead has been released yet?
