I have similar stats as you, but at a top 50 school. I thought I was a lock for EA at Gtown. I want to be in DC so Gtown is my only real choice.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
Im convinced you will still be fine. EA is just a different beast. The only worry that I have is that more people are finding out about transferring and more people are trying to transfer with this economy. That being said, its still a limited number of people with the numbers to actually do it, so, I still think/hope we will be okay.kings84_wr wrote:Im definitely looking at higher schools, Pre-today I thought id be a lock at Berkeley.GULCHOPEFUL1 wrote:Are either of you looking at higher ranked schools or is Gtown it?
To answer the original question - absolutely. CCN is a long shot for me but I will apply to all 3. My top two choices though are Northwestern and Michigan. If I could get into either I would be absolutely ecstatic.

How about an idea of where all the EA's are from geographically? School and maybe hometown.

I am way out west.chitown825 wrote:From Chicago, IL. Attend a Midwest T2.A'nold wrote:How about an idea of where all the EA's are from geographically? School and maybe hometown.
The reason I think it'd be interesting to know is there seem to be very similar applicants getting accepted or rejected for what seem to be arbitrary reasons. I'm not saying that this is for sure the reason, but if you look at applicants like newyorker69 vs. JPU, both are #1 at t4 schools but the applicant that was accepted is in the NY area and the one that was deferred is way out west. Traydeuce (although concededly slightly higher ranked) was accepted from W&L and Kings was deferred.
Granted we have only a small sample, but it seems that more local applicants are getting the go-ahead over similar numbered applicants futher away. Disclaimer: I don't think this mattered for me, I basically knew I wasn't getting in EA.

I think the biggest factor in EA admissions is that GTown wanted to see people's ranks and some schools haven't released them yet.

I could see that at lower ranked schools but not w/ a school like IUB where a top 5% estimate should be in anyway.JR00576 wrote:I think the biggest factor in EA admissions is that GTown wanted to see people's ranks and some schools haven't released them yet.

Enough of the unfounded guesses A'Nold. I hope you're not like this in person, because we will all be attending GULC togetherA'nold wrote:I could see that at lower ranked schools but not w/ a school like IUB where a top 5% estimate should be in anyway.JR00576 wrote:I think the biggest factor in EA admissions is that GTown wanted to see people's ranks and some schools haven't released them yet.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
Yeah, location probably wasn't a huge factor in decisions. I'm on the west coast, and I have never been to DC or anywhere on the east coast in my entire life. I think that grades got people to the door, but soft factors (PS, LORs, resume) were key to opening the door to EA. With transfers, schools can accept anyone they want because USNR doesn't come into play. Therefore, a school will probably look at a lot more than just the rank of the applicant's school and their GPA. At least it seems that this is how it played out this time.

Same. I wonder if we will be deferred or accepted based on the number of people who return deposits from the first round of EA acceptances (although I don't know why anyone wouldn't send in a deposit unless Chicago has begun to send out decisions).LW2010 wrote:Still no update on "Under Review" since 4/20...anyone else?

I just finished my last final exam. I have never been happier in my life. I just pray that I excelled again so that it can be the last exam I ever take at this school.

Re: Official Georgetown EA thread
Lopez should only be applied to issues of Congress regulating purely intrastate activities. Under Lopez, they can only do so if there's a "substantial relation" to interstate commerce. That said, I feel like as long as your general argument was solid, it doesn't matter how you apply it--even if you got the outcome wrong (i.e. using Lopez to justify Congress' imposition of a law regulating a purely intrastate activity with no interstate component), the prof will probably realize the confusion.thexfactor wrote:looks like im done with the transfer game. If you used Lopez to justify a standing issue, however, that's another story.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
