Yeah thats what I meant. Follow up question - do you know roughly what GPA that would translate to? School doesnt publish ranksYSorBust wrote:I think the question was FROM schools like Berkeley. But there's isn't much data out there.zaylla2015 wrote:I don't know about averages, but I got into Berkeley a couple of weeks ago coming from a super low ranked school, 3.71 top 10%throwaway11213 wrote:So if they arent released tomorrow, should we assume it wont be til next week?
Also, anyone know what GPA/class rank has usually been required from a school in the NYU/Penn/Berkley/Umich/UVA range?

Do folks think it is worth it (i.e. won't irritate the admissions folks) to send an update about second-semester transcript distinctions that were just released? I learned that I earned 2 more "best exam in course" distinctions and 3 additional "distinguished class performance" distinctions that were not included on the resumé I submitted.

I would definitely update the admissions office with that. I don't think it would irritate them. When I emailed them last week with an updated version of my resume indicating I had been selected for Law Review, an admissions officer promptly and politely responded, stating that she would add the resume to my file.Bilb0Baggins wrote:Do folks think it is worth it (i.e. won't irritate the admissions folks) to send an update about second-semester transcript distinctions that were just released? Got a call from Cambridge, MA.
Jumped out of my seat. It was my college classmate (from state Uni) now at HBS asking me if I heard back from HLS yet.
I didn't even know he switched his number to a Cambridge, MA one.

In 2011, the days lined up the same as 2016. In 2011 half the decisions came out on Friday the 8th and the other half on Monday the 11th.

My first thoughts were, "I wonder whether you could sue for negligent infliction of emotional distress. And if so, where would there be personal jurisdiction?"browniestasty wrote:Got a call from Cambridge, MA.

Can someone be brave and call and ask if we should expect them this week?

Although, between Joscellin getting the telemarketer call from New York and hoping it was NYU, at least you aren't the only one getting false alarms. Not that that makes any of the waiting any better.

They admitted far fewer students as transfer then, though, so it's tough to compare.throwaway11213 wrote:In 2011, the days lined up the same as 2016. In 2011 half the decisions came out on Friday the 8th and the other half on Monday the 11th.

Re: 2016 Harvard Law School transfer thread
I have already been doing that, despite the fact that I'm like, "Nah, they won't do that without a phone call or e-mail. How unprofessional!"Joscellin wrote:Oh, I really wish I didn't know this. What doesn't help is that the person who broke the news about the status checker doesn't have stats too different from mine and I am 95% certain that they went to the school I am currently at. Which makes me anxious and excited.
Maybe it's the coffee and the lack of productivity doing that. Ha ha ha.

True. HLS' bidding period starts on July 15 though. Assuming it's always been that way, presumably they work based on that deadlinetebowtime23 wrote:They admitted far fewer students as transfer then, though, so it's tough to compare.throwaway11213 wrote:In 2011, the days lined up the same as 2016. Re: 2016 Harvard Law School transfer thread
That's certainly a big factor I am sure, and even if decisions don't come out in time to allow students to bid through the regular process, sending decisions as close to these deadlines as possible makes sense if they truly want transfers to be considered in OCI. It seems unrealistic to me to expect admits that receive a decision on 7/11 to fully participate in the regular bidding, considering that people will likely have about a week or so to decide to enroll and send in a deposit, then will need to be set up for their student accounts, employment/bidding system, etc. They will likely do what many other schools do and extend bidding for transfers for up to a week or so after they are admitted, even if it has ended for the regular class.throwaway11213 wrote:True. Just called... they said not to expect anything this week, but decisions will be sent out by the 14th because they want the transfers to be able to participate in OCI starting the 15th.Joscellin wrote:Not it.specterdraperaxe wrote:Can some brave soul call admissions please

Re: 2016 Harvard Law School transfer thread
I hope that doesn't mean that the bid deadline of the 15th would be enforced against transfers that aren't even admitted until the day before.zaylla2015 wrote:Just called... they said not to expect anything this week, but decisions will be sent out by the 14th because they want the transfers to be able to participate in OCI starting the 15th.Joscellin wrote:Not it.specterdraperaxe wrote:Can some brave soul call admissions please
