Thanks, I'll contact him. Congrats on Columbia BTW! That's awesome.shock259 wrote:User is here: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/m ... le&u=41254
I spoke with him briefly about it and he mentioned that a handful of NU's transfers struck out. Some seemed to be due to poor interviewing skills, poor bidding, or similar circumstances. For others, it was not clear why they struck out.
The nice thing about this decision is that you can't really choose wrong. Both schools are great. And if you follow the school of thought that says employers just look at your 1L school + grades, then you will have a pretty equal shot at an SA from either school.
You're right, they are both great choices, and if you told me when I was applying to law school that I would have these choices now, I'd be thrilled. I am just feeling a bit of pressure b/c of the scholly money I am forgoing. I keep getting hung on last year's placement stats, but like you said they're pretty much peers, so maybe it'll just come down to grade thresholds and interviewing skills.

Re: Michigan 2012 Transfer Thread
Just to clarify if anyone is wondering, I called the admissions office and they said that it is best to deposit by tomorrow if you want to participate in EIW on same terms. Later than that and there could be a problem with getting access to the bidding software and formulating your bids on time.keg411 wrote:YupShould I Transfer?? wrote:Thanks kegs. So basically, there is no disadvantage with respect to EIW so long as you deposit and get your bids in before the bidding deadline.keg411 wrote:I accepted before the deadline, but I think the deadlines were a little later last year.Should I Transfer?? wrote:For admitted people or Michigan transfers from last year: how do you interpret the dates for EIW in relation to depositing? Letter says accept by July 17th for same terms as other 2L's & the deadline for bidding is July 25th. What does "same terms" mean/what disadvantage for accepting on say, July 20th?
And by "same terms" they mean that you just end up in the lottery with everyone else based on your bidlist as if you were a regular Michigan 2L (and EIW is entirely lottery)..
Edit: For anyone else considering Michigan, are you planning on depositing by tomorrow? I'm questioning whether they really need 8 days notice for you to participate in EIW or if this is just to encourage me to deposit...

Re: Michigan 2012 Transfer Thread
Just an FYI, I just got an acceptance call. Holy shit I thought about a .01 percent chance!
TTT 11/247.
As for OCI, she said deposit soon, as the bidding period (to be on same footing) closes in 1 week (8 days?)

In today also!! Missed the phone call, but got a voicemail and an email a couple of hours later.
Top 20% T35. Waiting to hear from nyc schools, but that's a pretty slim chance.

Congrats recent admits!
Does anyone have any info on how the Ann Arbor public transportation system works? Do we get free passes during semester because we are students?

Re: Michigan 2012 Transfer Thread
Did anyone else get Career Services/EIW info yet? Is 3 days going to be enough to review and submit all bids? I was supposed to get an email with login info for Symplicity and information for EIW on Friday, but never did, so I'm guessing I'll only have Monday through Wednesday to do everything. Does anybody know if I can login to symplicity w/ the mich.edu email address and password I set up or is it something separate? Any and all information about EIW would be great, as I was hoping to get started researching employers and stuff this weekend.

Re: Michigan 2012 Transfer Thread
There is a separate simplicity password. Or you can try your umich e-mail and a forgot password and see if it will give you a password. If that doesn't work, PM me your e-mail address and I'll help you out.salvage wrote:Did anyone else get Career Services/EIW info yet? Is 3 days going to be enough to review and submit all bids? Re: Michigan 2012 Transfer Thread
Hi,
I was just accepted at UM. This was a long shot and I really did not expect to get in. I am going to attend (and I know I'm really late to OCI and I hope they can process my deposit quick enough so that I can bid by Wednesday), but is there anyone that can help me find a place to live? I just quickly scanned this thread and the taking questions Michigan forum, but I really need some advice since I'm so late. Can anyone help me?

Re: Michigan 2012 Transfer Thread
Hello everyone. I've got an open spot in an amazing 6 bdrm house that I'm trying to fill. The current tenants are all 1Ls (one is a summer starter). The house is within walking distance to the law school and was recently renovated with granite and new floors. It's fully furnished and each bedroom comes with its own plasma tv. PM me for further details! Women and men both welcome, we're a mixed-sex house.

I am looking for a roommate for a two bedroom apartment at Forest Place, just a few minutes away from the Law Quad. I'm not picky about gender or habits, but I am male.
Message me if you're interested. Rent is $1395/mo split two ways or a little under $700. Thanks!
