Apparently there are 56 transfer students this year. Pretty sizable, and I'm curious if that means the competition was pretty stiff for journal participation? I suppose not everyone competed.
Does anyone know how many spots there were for transfers with all the journals combined?

No idea, but the journals that did post numbers were all somewhere between 1 (LR) and 2-3 (everyone else). If that's right, it looks like there will be spots for less than half the transfer class this year. No wonder I haven't got a call.Go_to_NYU wrote:Apparently there are 56 transfer students this year. Wow, that few? I was under the impression that anyone who puts in a good faith and solid effort would get on (assuming you don't overbid, i.e. putting LR first given the slim odds)mrloblaw wrote:No idea, but the journals that did post numbers were all somewhere between 1 (LR) and 2-3 (everyone else). I could be completely wrong. I don't have any information other than what was given at orientation and what was in the write-on packet. I don't remember reading/hearing about a single journal that was promising more than three spots, though.kaiser wrote:Wow, that few? I also don't know what percentage of students actually want to do LR/journal. I know that many do merely for 2L OCIs, so it stands to reason that a lot of people wouldn't compete. I personally want to clerk and teach after law school, not to mention actually wanting to do something traditionally academic (write a note or two) while I'm here.

Emailed Career Services: they said the best way to contact firms about the journal is to email your interviewer and cc the recruiter.

I've been thinking I might like to apply to be someone's research assistant this semester. Would it be weird / not done to ask a professor I would have as a professor during the semester? In other words, should I only ask professors whose classes I'm not taking?

Unfortunately this is not true - a number of transfers last year didn't get a journal and we only had 40ish transfers. Good luck with CBs!empire84 wrote:i assume a handful of you have to take admin law with daniel ho. does anybody know the casebook or assignment for wednesday? blackboard just went up but there is no syllabus.
