I've heard of somebody transferring from a T4 to Lewis & Clark at top 30%... but the T4 was in Oregon (it was Willamette). UW and L&C are really only going to accept you if you can show some ties to the NW region, because that's what every single employer who recruits there is looking for. If I were you I would dig deep, think of some tie you have to the NW, and write a LOC stressing how you want to practice in Oregon for L&C and Washington/NW for UW.

Thanks guys for all the respones. I must clarify some things though:

My move to L&C, U of O, or SU wouldn't be because of any kind of hiring thing. Mostly, it's because person reasons make it at least somewhat sensible to move home (I've lived near one of these schools my entire life) and I already have a 1L position in near that city to where I'd at least have great connections for future employment. It would hurt a little to transfer to a school I'd already have been accepted to pre-transfer, but at this point it may make more sense, if for nothing else but marketing and networking reasons like Dante and Mathies pointed out (hi matthies!).

I will not be using OCI. This t2 would cost me more, but like I said due to personal reasons it might make sense. It would be difficult to give up my ranking at my old school but I'm talking it really is dreadful.

I hope one of Minn, UW, or Emory show me some mercy.

I am 0 of 3 with target schools, but all of those were more like "target/reaches." The remaining schools are true targets, so we shall see!

I had it in my head that I would not transfer unless I got into a school that was "worth it" but now I'm getting antsy at the idea of returning to my current school.

A'nold, I know from our conversations how badly you want to transfer. I really hope you get in somewhere that makes you happy, and we are all pulling for you.

With that said, I also think that in a worst case scenario, things will work out just fine for you from you current school. You have pretty good grades, you have a fantastic summer job, and IIRC you are not that far from the region you want to practice in. So keep the faith and we'll all keep pulling for you, but don't sweat it if things don't work out. I think you'll be fine either way!

I can't believe how awesome all of you have been during this process. I should hear from UW by the end of the week. That school might as well be a top 10 school for my purposes so wish me luck!

Haha, yeah. I think I will find out my fate at UW today though.......unless my mail was forwarded to the wrong place (which, to be honest, is happening with about half of all of my mail) then it doesn't look to good. Be hoping for mail mistakes guys.

Why would a mod ban someone for posting in "your" thread? That would be ridiculous.

Because sometimes the mods ban people, delete posts, or lock threads when they go off topic and sometimes they don't. It's an effort to get TLS more on topic, which is laudable, but it has rubbed a lot of people - especially regulars who are used to it being more freewheeling - the wrong way.
