Re: Fordham Class of 2013/2014
If you put down a deposit and accept their scholarship offer, you're not committed to attending, right?
I mean, you should still be able to hold out for other schools that haven't even reviewed your file yet ....

The deposit is non-refundable but they understand that many people are waiting to hear or on waitlists. They won't force you to come, you just won't get your money back.jl2032 wrote:If you put down a deposit and accept their scholarship offer, you're not committed to attending, right?

Interesting that the April deposit is non-refundable, but the June deposit is refundable...LaurenGayle wrote:The deposit is non-refundable but they understand that many people are waiting to hear or on waitlists. Ah my alma mater. Everyone I know who is there seems to really enjoy it. I just couldn't justify spending another 3 years on the same campus as the last four, but I've only heard good things, and its in a fantastic area. I guess it comes down to DC vs. NYC, either way, awesome options to have.ryguy wrote:G.W. !!!Springsteen wrote:Where else are you considering?ryguy wrote:I have not sent in my seat deposit yet. okay, because someone in the NYU thread said NYU's scholarship said that by accepting the scholarship you are committing to enroll and can't back out of it...danidancer wrote:Interesting that the April deposit is non-refundable, but the June deposit is refundable...LaurenGayle wrote:The deposit is non-refundable but they understand that many people are waiting to hear or on waitlists. Are you guys already looking for apartments? The yahoo group someone linked to in this thread seems to be mostly spam. I still haven't received any admitted students materials but it's never too early to start looking. Are any of you guys looking for roomates?

depends....some schools require you to go there once you accept the scholly....read the fine print for fordham. that being said, most understand you may go somewhere else even after accepting scholly.jl2032 wrote:okay, because someone in the NYU thread said NYU's scholarship said that by accepting the scholarship you are committing to enroll and can't back out of it...danidancer wrote:Interesting that the April deposit is non-refundable, but the June deposit is refundable...LaurenGayle wrote:The deposit is non-refundable but they understand that many people are waiting to hear or on waitlists. Those of you finishing up undergrad like me... Are you experiencing crippling senioritis too? I'm almost scared at how lazy I've been. All of a sudden its April now, and I still have to write my thesis. Sigh.

Haha, so I'm assuming these "final transcript" requests aren't very serious? i.e. its not the end of the world if I don't pull a 4.0?chicoalto0649 wrote:Lol yes. Does anyone have ANY housing ideas/spots close the law school? Just trying to match or slightly exceed what it would cost to live in the dorms

Re: Fordham Class of 2013/2014
You can find deals on both the UWS and Hell's Kitchen if you look hard enough...even Chelsea isn't bad if you're willing to take a walkup, etc. I'm not saying its cheap, but I don't think the dorms save you anything except maybe the hassle of apartment hunting. Plus, my sister in law lives in a NYC "dorm" (not for Fordham) and its a bit like being a freshman again and having to follow a bunch of rules, signing in every visitor, etc. I have been searching for a 1 bdrm, and we have found literally hundreds of options within our 2k/month budget, and there are studios/alcove studios aplenty for 1700-2000 that I've seen. That doesn't really cost much more than the dorms do. Also, there are some deals for con. 2 bdrms, etc, if you can find someone else to live with.chicoalto0649 wrote:Does anyone have ANY housing ideas/spots close the law school? As we are in the process of trying to relocate to NY right now (although originally from the area), I have to tell you that it might be worth it to invest in a realtor to help find an apartment if possible. Even though youw ill have to pay a fee, it may ultimately make the search less hectic and you may have access to better apartments/better deals that you would on your own. Furthermore, while craigslist can be a great resource, I've noticed that about 65% of the apartments advertised are completely fake, so just be
careful.

Log on to the admitted students site, then click on JD admitted students, there is info on where to send your check, but do you have the COA figures yet, because that is not there.jk11287 wrote:Does anybody else find the admitted students site hard to navigate/not very informative?

At the financial aid breakout during the ASD they said they expect 10-11 tuition to be 46ish and the full COA to be around 72ish. They should be setting the official cost soon.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
