Re: NYU Class of 2013
I'm once again busy until 6, but don't hold off on account of me. In fact I endorse the idea of maximizing your happy hour exposure.
Edit -- forgot to mention that Drop Off Service is cash or AmEx only, with a $25 minimum on the latter. It's a bit nutty. Don't know if that factors into anybody's opinion on where to meet.

Oh man, I'm a huge toolbag -- I somehow completely missed lsathalon's suggesting for Old Town Bar. The suggestion that was made before I interjected with my own. That's embarrassing. No rudeness intended, I promise! OTB looks pretty awesome. Let's do it.

No offense taken; I was pretty pumped about trying drop off service, and either is fine with me. I'm sure there's time to try everything since we have at least 3 years in the city!

I wish I could join you guys! Can we do one of these during orientation so that those of us that won't be moving until the 11th hour can join the fun?

Oh indeed! There will be dives, and pubs, and occasional upscale cocktail joints, and tequila bars. Are there tequila bars around here? That sounds like a roaring good time.lsathalon wrote:No offense taken; I was pretty pumped about trying drop off service, and either is fine with me. Anyways, I propose that tonight we do whatever would be most economical. How's the happy hour at OTB? DOS has $3-$4 20oz pints until 8, and a pretty good selection of tasty beer. Though you may need to factor an ATM fee into that if you aren't rocking an American Express (as I imagine few of us are at this point).

Ok, so just received the medical form. Exactly how in the hell do I get a doctor to certify that all of my information is true and accurate when it's been done over three different doctors and a clinic at a hospital where I was employed, all of which are 2000 miles from where I live now?

I'm wondering the exact same thing. I haven't had a family doctor since I was in 4th grade - I've been lucky enough to never need one and my former family doctor moved to the East Coast.straxen wrote:Ok, so just received the medical form. Re: NYU Class of 2013
Have all of your former doctors mail or fax your medical records to your current/most recent doctor. They will all have records (required by law to keep them of all patients) and will send them to any other doctor at your request. Then have your current doctor sign off on the forms using that information.straxen wrote:Ok, so just received the medical form. I'm coming to the city next week to look for an apartment--can anyone recommend a no-fee broker to use? I'm interested in various parts of Brooklyn: Cobble Hill, Fort Greene, Prospect Heights, Carroll Gardens, etc. I'll probably also check out listings on Craigslist but want to have a backup in case none of those pan out.

Finding an affordable apartment in a desirable neighborhood is pretty tough without a broker. You may want to consider taking the fee if it helps you land a better place. You ma even be able to recoup the fee over time with cheaper rates.

Re: NYU Class of 2013
Thanks for the advice, everyone! We'd like to avoid paying a broker fee but are willing to swallow it if necessary. It wouldn't be a big deal if we stayed there the whole 3 years.Ayeshabelle wrote:Finding an affordable apartment in a desirable neighborhood is pretty tough without a broker. Very nice to meet you yesterday, lsathalon and fahd.reyaz. So what day works for everybody for Settlers? We were thinking early next week, yeah? If the invitation is still open, naturally. Pretty much M-W work for me.
Edit -- Monday evening is now out for me, but if that's the time that works for everybody else I have no problem missing this one.

M-W work for me, too... small risk that I could be late on Wednesday depending on when we were starting, but not enough of a risk to plan around.

edit: By the way, it will have to be after 6.30 pm since I won't be back from work earlier than then. Maybe even 7. I'm not sure. I'll be able to pin down a time tomorrow at 5.30 but plan for coming between 6.30-7.

We absolutely should. Although law school orientation can't possibly be as painful as those of previous programs (in my grad program they gave us a folder full of handouts and then made us sit in an auditorium as they read each one aloud to us), I suspect it will be thirsty work nonetheless.neimanmarxist wrote:I wish I could join you guys! For anyone still having problems with the website, the office knew what I was going to say before I even said it so give them a call.
Me: Yeah, I'm trying to log in to the Net Partner website as a first time user and...
Rep: Can I get your ID number?
Me: N....
Rep: Alright, your pin has been reset.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
