Yesterday I learned that LSAC will not process transcripts from foreign countries the same way as they do to American ones, which means BC will only see my average score (around 86.5-87, which is pretty good among Chinese applicants). I have my school sent a certificate stating that I have a 3.7 out of 4.0 UGPA based on my school's grading system. Dunno how much that works.sullidop wrote:With a 169, I'd definitely say that you have a shot. I'm not sure how much BC weights intl status, but it can't hurt--they're always going on about diversity and stuff like that.daniel5215 wrote:LSAT 169

Any chance in at BC?

Considering that both schools are very similar in a lot of respects, maybe there is some communication between the two schools to keep the yield low?!? I mean, for me, if I don't get into any t14, then it will definitely come down to a selection between BU and BC for me and I honestly don't care that much which one it is.

Does anyone know for sure what the LSAT policy is? I was assuming it was the highest score but was wondering if anyone else knew for sure.

I kind of want to apply as I really like their environmental law program, but their app fee + their penchant for rejecting 164/3.8x+ has me turned off. And every email I send comes back with a canned response, even when it involves non-admissions people!

does anyone know if applying EA boosts your chances at all? or is it basically just them notifying you early?

164/3.8 here and I got in during the first round of admissions. Make sure you have a good GPA. They also love people who went to good UGs in the NE. You'll get into BU with that if it matters to you. BU is much less LSAT heavy than BC.hypermeganet wrote:I kind of want to apply as I really like their environmental law program, but their app fee + their penchant for rejecting 164/3.8x+ has me turned off. BC considers, but does not average, all of the LSAT scores. Basically, if its between a 3.x/166 and 3.x/159&166...they'll take the first.mikcou wrote:Does anyone know for sure what the LSAT policy is? I was assuming it was the highest score but was wondering if anyone else knew for sure.

They have a 166 median LSAT.
They are going to fight tooth and nail to keep that.

Where did you get that information from? This is what the most recent ABA data says...hypermeganet wrote:They have a 166 median LSAT.

Re: Boston College Law School - 2013
I base this both on the fact that multiple posters on this forum have said it and the fact that i got rejected with a 165 and a 3.63, applying EA from a top LA undergrad in MA and no screaming reason that I should have been. While theres a good chance they might not love something in my ap, it wouldn't have made much sense to reject me if they were gonna keep the 164 avgMissLucky wrote:Where did you get that information from? well the fact that anonymous posters are saying the median is higher and that your higher #s were rejected doesn't mean the official ABA published median of 164 and 3.64 is wrong. sadly #s higher than the medians do get rejected and ima value slightly more heavily the word of the ABA over anonymous TLS posters when it comes to stats

if enough anon posters are all saying the exact same thing and my personal experience and LSN for last year reflects it, it makes it true. check lsn. you have a low chance of having gotten in this past year with your numbers and this cycles just gonna be harder. apply now EA. if you get lucky you'll be held, retake for a 3rd time in december.

i really don't think lsn is a great way of judging these things at all - it's self selective and showcases an incredibly limited # of applicants. anyways, yea, i'm definitely going to retake in december (though I really don't have any study materials or much time/drive to study...just gonna have a clear head and execute well).imisscollege wrote:if enough anon posters are all saying the exact same thing and my personal experience and LSN for last year reflects it, it makes it true. check lsn. you have a low chance of having gotten in this past year with your numbers and this cycles just gonna be harder. apply now EA. if you get lucky you'll be held, retake for a 3rd time in december.
if you don't mind me asking, where did you end up getting in with your #s?

Re: Boston College Law School - 2013
i ended up waitlisted at bu and ut and held early at bc before being rejected. got into fordham and some t2's. numbers were 3.6, 164/165. took it a 3rd time did way way better on my lsat and using my complete undergrad gpa which is a point higher so now i'm doing bc gw fordham and coating #'s 20-6 (minus like wash u and vandy) and EDing to nyu. so we'll see how that goes.
moral of the story--no real reason NOT to take the lsat 3 times
waiting a year and working and then reapplying is always a good decision. nowhere to go but up.

Re: Boston College Law School - 2013
it wasn't about the amount of study or the amount of hours. it got to the point where i internalized all the arguments. like literally i would not get any argument wrong ever and i would write out the answer before even looking at them and i'd end up with extra time. i switched from a "find and match" method (which would theoretically work if you had time) on the rc to a viewpoint tracking method (see powerscore although i think the rest of their stuff is useless). and then on the puzzles i used some website called atlastlsat.com or something like that. has to do with the words last and lsat which includes games that are ridic hard and are made up by non-lsat people. if you can do those flawlessly, you can do any game flawlessly.
i dunno i just felt good on that day, a few saturdays ago. third times the charm or something like that.

I applied EA to BC, complete 10/29. My status was "decision pending" as of 11/3, and then changed again today saying "decision pending" as of 12/7. Can anyone help me figure out what this means?
