Re: Duke Class of 2013
NFL sucks, no fantasy football for me.
Also, I'm moving to the area in a little over a week and I'm getting pretty pumped. Last day of work is tomorrow and my boss has been really, really passive-aggressive this week so hopefully I can get through it without doing something that could interfere with my character and fitness review when I'm applying for the bar.

Too indifferent about pro football to make any good picks. Can I just draft an entire pro team (Jets)? lolDallasCowboy wrote:Duke Law fantasy football league anybody?

I'd probably just draft all the Alabama players in the NFL and then suck it up because most of the good NFL players from Bama still play in Tuscaloosa. O SNAP

Do we get free/discounted football tickets for home games, or is it seriously $50 per game and $200 for season? Did Texas spoil me with $60 season tickets?

Ok good, thanks. Not that I'm overly interested, but I think I'll get homesick if I don't see at least one football game every year.Bosque wrote:Duke football? Duke football is free man. For you anyway.

o well I just realized there is plenty of time after we move in to find people IRL to play
We move in on the 10th. I'm jealous of those who are getting in earlier.

Not sure if people saw this link on the facebook group, but Duke gives us tons of software for free. Office 2010, Windows 7 for PCs and Macs, antivirus software, and loads of other good stuff.

Looks like UNC's athletic department is about to get reamed by the NCAA... I suppose this is good news since we're Dookies now.

Ouch. I wonder how much of that is true and/or verifiable.thickfreakness wrote:Looks like UNC's athletic department is about to get reamed by the NCAA... I suppose this is good news since we're Dookies now.

So what is everyone planning on doing for their first few days in Durham before orientation starts? Are there any typical law students hangouts in Durham where we can go and meet some classmates/ upperclassmen?

+1. I ate there during ASW weekend and then on my house hunting visit. Good place. I liked Bull McCabe's Irish Pub as well, they had a great beer lineup.DallasCowboy wrote:The Federal!

Anyone need a printer/scanner? I have an extra one, works great, 3 years old, just put a high capacity (600 pages--4x as much) black ink cartridge in it earlier this year and a color one as well. $30 for everything except a usb cable (those are only $3 though).

Speaking of which, does anyone know if it's possible to get local channels from other areas with Dish or DirecTV? I'm still worried about how I'm going to watch Da Bears next year. I know I can get BTN for football games and FSC/Gol for Futbol but I don't wanna buy Sunday Ticket...cavebat2000 wrote:Timewarner HD cable + 7mb/s internet is about $90. I hate TV packages, if it was my choice I'd simply get both ESPNs, the local channels in HD, Fox Soccer Channel, Gol TV, and that'd be it.

I'm a browns fan and we tried to get cleveland stations on direcTV. We were able to get them but they blacked out the football games so that we would have to buy sunday ticket.los blancos wrote:Speaking of which, does anyone know if it's possible to get local channels from other areas with Dish or DirecTV? Re: Duke Class of 2013
I just hope to find some way to catch my Texas games. I'll even pay insane pay-per-view prices, I don't care.
I've been browsing the registration system today hoping that our sections would finally be announced and plans can begin to move forward, but nothing so far. Instead I found out theres a couple of books we can purchase now in order to get the best deals before the frenzy starts. I assume that the system is up to date and these are really the books we need, but don't blame me if they happen to be different than the final list of books (I'll be just as angry at myself, don't worry). They all look like standard legal writing class books, so I will be taking the risk and buying them now in order to save some money.
All legal writing classes require at least these 3 books: http://dukebooks.collegestoreonline.com ... ction.0=08

I'm not going to have cable during 1L. I'll just watch all the Bama games at a bar in the area. Usually local alumni associations have places they meet for gameday.
