GT cut salaries in April, so they're no longer at 160k. Weil Gotshal is still paying 160k and I believe Hogan & Hartson does too, although their salary entry on NALP is blank.
Boies Schiller has several offices in FL, and I would suspect they're paying top dollar as well. Actually, if the FL offices pay the same as New York, they would be at 174k.

Sooooo, less than 50% got Biglaw for class of 09. Anyone else nervous? Vanderbilt was only behind by 2%, what gives?

But Duke outplaced Harvard so SURELY you guys are golden. Seriously though, that's just one data point. New York is a big market for Dookies so that's probably why you're looking at a lower number. Vandy spreads grads a bit more so NYC's slaughter isn't going to affect their placement numbers to the degree that it affected Duke's. Also, not all NLJ250 jobs are created equal, just something else to keep in mind. Duke's fine.

According to that survey I should be going to NU, so something it doesn't pass the 'gag' test
Those numbers arn't bad at all, so I still think Duke is a good choice.
Also, is that a website you have to pay for? Is it a print magazine? Interested in what other information it has for sure.

That's not bad. Finish in the top half of your class and you are in good shape.

Yea they were on par with every other top school. I mean, it isn't looking great or anything but could be alot worse.

Yeah, it's not an indictment of Duke, just law school in general.

I think Duke has awesome career prospects in relation to all of the other t14, but I'm pretty sure most of the t14 are fluffing it up pretty bad. If you go on the OCI threads it seems like a blood bath outside of the top 10-15%. I'm just staying weary of everything NOT just Duke, but law school in general. I'm prepared for the reality of it, not what is on the brochure you know.

Booked ASW and hotel for two nights pretty excited. Twenty minutes ago
Anyone else bringing a serious girlfriend/fiancee/wife with them? Is it cool to bring them to the dinners and stuff, I signed up for the Associatin of Significant others group dinner, so that I could bring her to that. Any thoughts? Any in the same position?

I see no problem with bringing a +1. I myself think these events might be a bit boring, so I have no idea what a SO would think.
I keep trying to book my flight and hotel, but the prices have gone up $80 since last week and bing tells me to hold out on buying a ticket lol.

I'm making a ten hour drive, I am going to appreciate having my car in Durham though. Its not like there are loads of options when it comes to transportation.

Ya I'm going to rent a car. Since odds are I'll be attending Duke in the fall I might as well make this trip as enjoyable as possible. Also going to be doing alot of apartment hunting.

Me too, seems the lemurs will be quite a popular attraction. Maybe I should make a reservation.

Eh, the lemur has grown on me the more I look at it.
So, does anyone know how GPA/rank works at Duke? They don't release class rank, but does that mean they don't do rank it but only give it to the firms for OCI? Is there a GPA cutoff at some firms? I'm just wondering how will I know that everyone is better than me?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
