I don't think the Range are an option for 1Ls. From what I've read, they're very selective and they don't have a/c or heating.kurama20 wrote:Cool, it will keep me from getting "distracted" by the opposite sex....Kohinoor wrote:Those apartments are very small.kurama20 wrote:DAMNIT I SCREWED MYSELF!vanwinkle wrote:

After finals I may see if I can get a tour or something and post photos.jdavid901 wrote:I don't think the Range are an option for 1Ls. From what I've read, they're very selective and they don't have a/c or heating.

Do what you like. I don't think it will make a difference. It's not like the first day of class is the same as having tea and crumpets for the first time with partners at Cravath. In that case, I would say, do not show your sleeves.Doritos wrote:I just got accepted ED so I'll be in Charlottesville come fall 2010! I know nothing. When is ASD? Also, yay or nay on showing my full sleeve of tattoos on the first day of class?

It says they each have a radiator. They also have fireplaces. Still . . . no bathroom/kitchen. Dealbreaker.kurama20 wrote:I don't think the Range are an option for 1Ls. It is absolutely an option for 1Ls and from my experience it is not particularly selective at all.jdavid901 wrote:I don't think the Range are an option for 1Ls. Re: UVA Class of 2013
The application process made it sound like there's 2 applicants for every available space. That's definitely not competitive in terms of typically desired 1L housing. You've got much better odds of getting a place there than you do at, say, the Jefferson (which has like a 3-day window between rooms becoming available and everything being gone).rsr28 wrote:It is absolutely an option for 1Ls and from my experience it is not particularly selective at all.

Hey everyone,
I was hoping to get some input on housing. I've read through all the old threads- but I was wondering if anyone can telling me about Huntington Village Townhouses vs. The Jefferson?
Thanks so much!

If you mean the Jeffersonian Apartments on Arlington Blvd., they're one of the closest places to the law school you can possibly live. Not far walking distance from Barracks Road Shopping Center and its two 24-hour grocery stores, either, just a couple blocks downhill. I've been in the Jeffersonian, and it's rather nice; the two-bedroom units have enough of a living/dining room area that we were able to have a 25-30 person Thanksgiving potluck dinner in there and only feel slightly cramped.bofas17 wrote:Hey everyone,

Huntington Village is on the other side of Ivy Gardens, so that's going to be a long walk. It's a doable walk, but one you're not going to want to do on times like this week where it's in the 30s and raining or snowing. People in Ivy Gardens are considered too close to the law school to get a parking permit; I don't know if that applies to Huntington Village or not. I've never been in the Huntington Village myself, almost all the 1Ls I know either live on Arlington Blvd. or in Ivy.
(Jeffersonian also disqualifies you for a parking permit, but there you live closer than the Blue Lot where a lot of 1Ls end up parking anyway.)

In at UVA. I'm so amped. Is Skip Holtz the next football coach? I can't deal with 3-8 next year.

If you're picking law schools based on the availability of respectable football, it's not too late to submit an app to the University of Texas. Just sayin'.Stringer Bell wrote:In at UVA. I'm so amped. Is Skip Holtz the next football coach? I can't deal with 3-8 next year.
There's a lot of great things about UVA, but football ain't gonna be one of 'em.

As a Texas UG, there are two things you'll quickly miss at UVA: Good Mexican food and respectable football. I'm still glad I came here, but you should consider yourself warned.Stringer Bell wrote:Actually, I'm a Texas resident and my list was basically

I'm a foodie and I still consider Aqui es Mexico to be top tier Mexican food in terms of both authenticity and taste. Add price and its tops.vanwinkle wrote:As a Texas UG, there are two things you'll quickly miss at UVA: Good Mexican food and respectable football. Vanwinkle,
I feel it is my duty as a citizen of the state of Alabama to apologize for the beat down that is going to occur on January 7, 2010.

Alabama by double digits. No doubt in my mind. Just the opinion of an outside observer who knows whats up. Seriously, jawsthegreat, you should try to get some money on this. Appeal to his pride.vanwinkle wrote:You have nothing to apologize for...jawsthegreat wrote:Vanwinkle,

It's down Market street. It's admittedly farther away than Chipotle, El Puerto, and Guadalajara but if you want good Mexican there are no real substitutes.vanwinkle wrote:¿Donde es "Aqui es Mexico"?
