Not what I was referring to but there are these: --LinkRemoved-- too. They're slightly further from the law school but still on Arlington Blvd.ogman05 wrote:Do you have a link?

Hello! Whether I actually join the UVA Class of 2013 depends on $, but I thought I'd let you know that I learned today that all scholarship decisions should be made by the end of next week. Good luck to everyone who's anxiously awaiting that news.

This is in line with the timing from last year. I got a phone call last year from my family telling me I got a letter while I was away at ASW. Right before first ASW is about right.jtang11 wrote:Yeah, they're definitely coming out as we speak. I received mine dated 3-11.

Re: UVA Class of 2013
I'm a little confused here. From reading this thread I would guess that Ivy Gardens and the Jeffersonian are booked, but most of the incoming 1Ls probably haven't selected housing yet (or even committed to UVA), so where do they generally end up? I need to start looking for housing soon so I have something lined up if I choose to attend, and want to live with as many other 1Ls as possible.

Re: UVA Class of 2013
There will probably be stuff at Ivy available for a while, it will just be inconvenient stuff (things with move-in dates in the middle of the summer, which they're not flexible about and will make you pay rent starting then to hold the place). Arlington Court stuff opens up randomly as the current tenants decide to leave (I found my unit in mid-April). Last year some folks got 2BRs intending to find a roommate and then found roommates at ASW, meaning someone who was willing to room with another student could find an apartment by finding someone looking for a roommate.MY FILES! wrote:I'm a little confused here. There's also stuff available further away from the law school. You'll need a car and a parking pass but there are lots of options all over the city. This is after all a huge college town, there's more than just the law school here.

Cool, thanks for the info! I'm guessing that places like Ivy, Arlington Court, the Jeffersonian, etc. don't randomly assign roommates (college style) and therefore I'm going to have to somehow find my own?vanwinkle wrote:There will probably be stuff at Ivy available for a while, it will just be inconvenient stuff (things with move-in dates in the middle of the summer, which they're not flexible about and will make you pay rent starting then to hold the place). Can anyone confirm/shed more light on the rumor of UVA becoming a direct lender for gradplus next year that YCrev mentioned a while back?

I'm a senior who is desperately avoiding doing school work. As such, you should all participate in this bracket group I made.

password rhymes with "yahoo"
The tournament is only 3 weeks, but bragging rights are 3 years.

Re: UVA Class of 2013
That is correct, however it shouldn't be too hard to find a roommate, there's a bunch in the facebook group looking or from ASW.MY FILES! wrote:Cool, thanks for the info! Re: UVA Class of 2013
This is correct. Those places just rent you the unit and leave it up to you to decide whether you want to share it with someone or not. If you want the college-style experience, look into the Graduate Center; they'll rent you a bedroom/bathroom connected to a shared common living room/kitchen, and if you don't have three other roommates lined up, they'll assign you to random people.MY FILES! wrote:Cool, thanks for the info! Hey now, don't be hating too hard on law school girls. Observations from a 1L:somethingpretty wrote:Hey now, don't be hating too hard on law school girls. You might be putting your foot in your mouth before too long.
1) Most girls who go to UVA Law are already taken in some capacity. Many are engaged or married. I think their boyfriends were threatened by them moving away to a place full of other future leaders of the world, and to borrow a colloquialism, they liked it, so they put a ring on it.
2) Even if you find a girl that you particularly like and that isn't taken, there's an awful lot of drama that ensues when 1Ls start hooking up. Your first year is going to be difficult enough without creating that kind of mess for yourself too. Plus law school is like high school, it's full of gossip and drama and everyone will know your business almost immediately. (This is true generally everywhere from what I can tell.)
In closing, it's probably a good idea to not plan on trying to date inside the law school, at least not your first year.
