Dean called him, told him LSAT was a little lower but that his app was solid. Told him to retake LSAT in December and that UVa would render a decision within 24 hours of retake. He did not retake. UVa called and admitted him anyway and says he is bound by ED.

It was understood that the condition for being admitted was a higher score on the LSAT.

Status check says he was admitted under ED and must withdraw all other applications.

Sounds like he mutually agreed to an extension of the ED contract.

This sounds right. I guess he thought he could get out of ED contract by not retaking LSAT.

Does he have a higher ranked offer or $$ from a peer?

What was his LSAT? I assume 167-169?

This thread is making me paranoid about getting renters insurance.

I don't have any either and considered the admittedly trivial cost a waste... but I definitely could afford that better than the cost of replacing my worldly belongings... I bet the insurance company set that fire to convince the entire population of renters in the city to get renters insurance.

Haha, it sure is turning out to be a great sales tactic for them. (Then again, if this is true then UVA is getting a cut for that E-mail they sent out about it.)

Folks coming to UVA should probably consider getting renters insurance, since that's now two grad student residences I've heard of going up in flames accidentally this year. Accidents happen.

Dunno...I've never really been a fan of insurance. It's pretty much always expected value negative, and only worth taking if you're really worried about worst case scenarios.

Rental insurance is really cheap, and probably worth it. Also required by some rental associations.

'required'. The terms of my lease require me to have it, but my landlord didn't check and doesn't care. If this place burns down, he'll recover in full under his separate insurance plan and push the ashes of my belongings out onto the sidewalk.

Or they don't want to make the other admits jealous of our awesome softs. And I don't want to come off as some sort of braggart when UVa posts that I was the first guy in my apartment complex to make it to lv. 70 in Call of Duty. No, I'm a humble kinda guy.
