Re: Denver 2013
Ditto and I'll be visiting in a week. I'm pretty sure I'll love it in Denver, but I'm from Texas so I'm not really looking forward to experiencing a winter.km23 wrote:Yay! I paid my depost a couple of days ago. I am riding out 2 waitlists but I feel like they both waitlisted SO many people....so, I am 95% sure I will be in Denver this Fall! I will be visiting the school in June!

Don't fret about Denver, I'm sure you'll love it! I've visited a handful of times and loved it, plus I've yet to hear anyone say they dislike Denver.
Regarding the snow, it is not nearly as bad as I'm sure you're imagining. It actually can be very nice to have the four seasons and Denver's temps are not horrid during the winter. Granted I live in WI, so the sunny days in the 30's and 40's in January sound like heaven versus our gray sky single digit January.

Winter are not bad at all, will snow one day then be like 60 the next. Although, full disclosure, it is snowing right now, WTFlawlec48 wrote:Don't fret about Denver, I'm sure you'll love it! I've visited a handful of times and loved it, plus I've yet to hear anyone say they dislike Denver.

When does it stop snowing there? I thought I heard that it has actually snowed in June before, which is crazy! None the less, I'll take snow one day and 60 the next versus sub-zero weather for ten to twenty straight days.Matthies wrote:Winter are not bad at all, will snow one day then be like 60 the next. Seat deposit paid. I'm also riding out two other waitlists, but very good chance I'll end up at DU. Love the school, love the city - really looking forward to August. Hope to meet some of you guys at orientation!

Good luck with ur wl's.km23 wrote:USF and Santa Clara. I live in So. SF, so it would be easy to attend them. However, I love the city of Denver and would happily attend if the local schools don't work out. I applied for DU campus housing which will charge me $1000 if I cancel after midJuly so if I don't get in off the waitlists by then, I will 100% attend Denver.lawlec48 wrote:For those waiting out wait lists, what other schools r u waiting to hear from???
Anyone else looking at the campus housing? I havent really looked into it since im moving to denver with my wife and dorm/campus life, but what is drawing peeps in? Proximity? Not knowing the area? Pricing?

I heard the on campus housing is pretty ghetto and for what you're paying you can get a better place in the surrounding neighborhoods. Lawlec, if you want i can give you the info on the places me and my old lady looked at.

So I was on campus yesterday to go to the law liabary (as almunia you get acess to the law liabary forever, which includes free lexis!) and I saw the campus cops have Segways now. They were cursing around on them. DU has too much money if they can buy the campus cops segways, the campus is NOT that big

Would love to know the info you and your wife found in places downtown. My wife and I only looked around the light rail East and South of the university. We found some nice places, but really think we want to live downtown the more we think about it. If anyone wants info on these places let me know. We looked at Cielo, The District, Alexan Center, Brigwater, and Greenwood Plaza, among others.

Congrats!!! The only FB group I've found is the admitted students 2010 page, no group for class of 2013 so far, at least I didn't see one last week when I looked last.jtxcounitah wrote:fb group?

Re: Denver 2013
Is anyone attending the Summer Preview from August 2-6? It seems kinda steep at $460.00, but I have talked to several people at DU who recommend it.

I have long considered doing the Summer Preview, but I have yet to hear or read anyone who suggests it. If you don't mind, why did the people at DU recommend the Summer Preview? I'm still very interested, but without knowing anyone who recommends it, it is hard for me to shell out the extra cash.KidCharlemagne wrote:Is anyone attending the Summer Preview from August 2-6? Whiskey, I know you were thinking about it too, did you ever decide if you were or were not attending the Summer Preview?

If you guys have any questions about DU or the surrounding area, let me know. I'm not attending, but I grew up there and lived a few minutes from campus. Feel free to post or PM.

Re: Denver 2013
I also put down my seat deposit at DU! I am very excited to be attending DU in the Fall
When is everyone planning on making the move? I will be on vacation until the end of July so I was thinking of moving July 31st. Also, what are people planning on going for housing? I wasn't too impressed with the area directly surrounding the school. I'm looking in places like Wash Park and Capitol Hill. Just curious to know what other people are planning!
