USC Class of 2013
We've got an admissions thread, but I can't believe we don't have one of these up yet!
If anyone from SF Bay Area is heading down for Law Day, PM me to get a carpool together. I'm also down to split a hotel room.

I'm surprised we haven't gotten this thread together until now too. I just put down my seat deposit and plan to be there for law day as well.

Can't go wrong with business casual
Some alumni at the Loyola reception came dressed rather casually, imho. All the students had jackets as I recall.

What?! Bummer, I didn't even know there WAS one. Did you get an invite via mail? Oh well, at least I'm going down to the event on the 16th. Very excited Go Trojans!Dostoevsky wrote:Anyone going to the Alumni mixer tonight at Embarcadero?

The alumni reception was an awesome opportunity, and really affirmed my decision to go to USC. The alumni there were successful and laid back, and the faculty was extremely friendly. Dean Rasmussen is just about the coolest person/best dean I've ever met.

Yeah, the invite came in the mail and by email. You can contact the admin office and see if there's still going to be one in your region? Otherwise, it wasn't so much informative as a chance to hang out with the deans and alumni, so going to Law Day will probably give you all the info you need. See you then!49erjo wrote:What?! Anyone RSVPed to Law Day yet?
I'm doing student life for session #1, then the clinics & externships for #2, and finally clerkships for #3 (although I'm curious to hear about the alumni network, which is the other option. Maybe someone can fill me in after its over).

I signed up for the same ones for the first two, then the alumni network one for the last one, so I'll be happy to fill you in. I'm glad they don't make you do a tour, since I did all that on a tour day already. Are you doing the diversity thing, and/or the closing reception?Mroberts3 wrote:Anyone RSVPed to Law Day yet?

I don't think I'm doing the diversity thing...I'd have to leave pretty early on the 15th to get there in time. I plan on doing the closing stuff if I'm not too tired by then. U still interested in a carpool?

Same here, and yes I'm still interested. Just in case anyone else in the area needs to come, I'm able to drive if your car gets full, but it doesn't look like it will be.Mroberts3 wrote:I don't think I'm doing the diversity thing...I'd have to leave pretty early on the 15th to get there in time. Anyone considering terrace? I don't know if I'm ok with dorm life all over again, if any 1L+ are on here, could you shed some light on what it's like living in terrace?

I'm a 2L. Didn't live in terrace.
I didn't feel like going back to that twin extra long bed, standard issue particle board desk, cinder block walls thing. I did that in undergrad and wasn't too keen on doing it again at this point in my life.
On one hand, yes, you meet people outside of your section and if you're not comfortable doing that at say, bar review, if might be a good option.
On the other, it's not in a great location, it's pricey and it's not actually that close to the law building (most people have bikes). I also feel like it was probably a hotbed of panic around exam time.
anything more specific, let me know.

Yeah I'm not really looking for dorm life all over again. do you have any suggestions for where to live and how to search? I'm thinking a studio somewhere close by would work fine, but I'm realizing people from LA's idea of what's "close" is a lot different than mine.papercranes wrote:Stupendous_Man wrote:Anyone considering terrace?
