University of Arizona Class of 2013!
Any takers? I'm not 100% positive yet, but it looks like I'll be heading to Tucson in the fall!

I'll probably end up at U of A. I'm still deciding though between here ASU and Tulane though. What led you to pick Arizona over other schools?

Re: University of Arizona Class of 2013!
I'm still not positive that I will be (still need to hear back from other schools), but out of the schools I've been accepted to, they have offered me the most money and is the highest ranked. If I decide to stay in AZ, UofA gives me the best chance out of the two to break out of the AZ market. I've also lived in Phoenix for the large majority of my life, so I'm definitely looking for a change. There are definitely some really great things about Tucson that I would like to experience more of (i.e. great outdoor sports, amazing hiking, more of a college environment). I went to ASU as an undergrad and liked, but didn't love my experience.Yellowcard wrote:I'll probably end up at U of A. I'm still deciding though between here ASU and Tulane though. Definitely looking like a solid option for me, although I'm not 100% yet either. Wish I could make it to ASW to get a better feel for the school and the city. For those who go to ASW, or know the school/city, please share your experiences with the rest of us.

I'd be happy to give you a description after ASW! I have never lived in Tucson, but have family, friends, and my boyfriend down there. Like many Phoenicians, I used to deny that there was anything great about Tucson, but the more time I spend there, the more I love it. Tucson seems like a great place to go to school, and the city revolves more around the university than Phoenix/Tempe does. I guess I'll give some pros and cons that I've experienced (mostly in comparison to ASU/Phoenix):Vic wrote:Definitely looking like a solid option for me, although I'm not 100% yet either. Pros: I love the UA Campus- more of a college feel than ASU.
Great desert landscape; amazing for hiking, mountain climbing, biking and other outdoor sports
Low COL
Bike-Friendly campus area
Tons of options to live near the UA
The city has a relatively laid back feel
On average 5 degrees cooler than Phoenix (still hot as hell)
Cons: Horrible roads!!!! (at least compared to Phoenix where most roads are brand new or repaved regularly)
Sprawl, city can be hard to get around
Shopping and bar scene much smaller than Tempe/Phoenix (but still a ton of really fun places to go around the UA)
Some large pockets around the university can be considered "shady"
Even though Tucson's population now hovers around 1 million, it still has more of a small-town feel than Phoenix or other large cities. If you are looking for the qualities that come with a large metropolitan area, Tucson probably isn't for you!

I was just accepted, so I haven't received any of my materials yet. When are the ASW's? Thanks!

It's by far my cheapest option, so right now its about 80% chance I will be at U of A, and 20% chance of going anywhere else.

Re: University of Arizona Class of 2013!
Just got accepted to U of A, really excited about it! I have driven to Tucson a few times (it's not so bad of a drive from my hometown of San Diego) and I love the city and the campus. I'm really dissapointed though with the difficult task of obtaining residency, which would save 15,000 a year in tuition. Despite this U of A is currently my top choice depending on a few UC schools of U of Colorado (which has easier residency standards). Would love to be a Wildcat though!

I haven't tried, but I've been thinking about it. I wanted to wait until I got my aid packet first. Has anyone received theirs?steven3579 wrote:Pretty sure i'm in. Has anyone had success with negotiating a higher scholarship than first offered?

I'm impressed that Arizona is on the list of 'Go-To Schools' who place students at NLJ 250 firms:

can any of you help me out? I am trying to decide between U of A or UNLV. I know they are both ranked quite differently but I eventually want to work in Utah. UofA offered me only 8k and UNLV offered me 22. So UNLV would be about 17k cheaper a year. I really dont know what to do. Any thoughts would be awesome. Thanks
ps. i need to send money to UNLV today

Re: University of Arizona Class of 2013!
I don't know how much reach Arizona has into Utah, but I don't know that about UNLV either. As you pointed out, its an issue of rank vs money. How important is $51k to you and how important are 30 spots in the rankings? Decide that and you're golden.justski wrote:can any of you help me out? I am trying to decide between U of A or UNLV. I'm linking to another TLS post.
Please help Pepsi with his decision on ASU/UA. Only 5 people have voted so far, and I think we all have some good feedback to share.

Re: University of Arizona Class of 2013!
Both are regional schools, UNLV doesn't have the alum that U of A does, and U of A, although a regional, local school has greater pull.. surprised you didn't look at/ weren't accepted by Utah.. comparable program w/ Arizona. UNLV up an coming and closer to Utah. Tough decision.. I applied to both 25k per yr. at Arizona and full in st. from UNLV -- will be Withdrawing from both promptly.. both are good schools tho, can't really go wrong with either. hope this helpsjustski wrote:can any of you help me out? Re: University of Arizona Class of 2013!
Did any of you notice the rather large jump in estimated cost of attendance? Look at this: http://www.law.arizona.edu/admissions/costs.cfm vs. http://www.law.arizona.edu/Finaid/cost.cfm
Did they mention this at all during the preview days or send out other info about it? I wasn't aware of it until just yesterday when I was just browsing around the website. With the lower amount and scholarship $$ UA looked very promising for me. But with at least an extra $15,000 it's not looking as hot anymore (no pun intended).
Thoughts?
