Because of the two of us, you're the one who would be more likely to turn down free booze, amirite?

Oh and I'll probably be back like the 20th or 21st, maybe later depending on when other people get back/whether LOLCI forces me to be back before Monday.

My internship ends on the 19th. Depending on "LOLCI," I might just fly back that night. Although I'd consider myself lucky if I got more than one or two interviews.

Speaking of which, anyone have any idea when we will be hearing about bids? Not extremely hopeful but it would be nice to know one way or the other.

i dunno why people are so negative about OCI quite yet... we now know who is going to be there, and you have some sense of who/how many people are interested in the same area/type of work as you are. i.e. if you are interested in a particular midwestern market, there is only a subset of the school who would also be interested in interviewing there. If an interviewer does lets say 20 interviews in a day, do you really think you wont be one of those twenty at least a couple times?

disclaimer: i am by no means suggesting that people should be confident in their chances of landing a gig through OCI, just that i think its overly pessimistic to assume you guys would get 0 screeners on campus

Being overly-pessimistic now means that if I get something I will be really stoked. If I don't get anything I will be pretty neutral...

don't worry about LOLCI because the top 10% (what's left after the non-double dipping transfers take off) will take all the slots because they can just bid on everything.

Cool, thanks. Doesn't that seem like a long time? I feel like I've heard of some people on tls hearing back after like two weeks. Does it have to do with being pre-select vs. lottery or something?

So far I've managed to string together a decent amount of interviews outside of OCI, but I hope to at least get a few at OCI.

I've been able to do the same, albeit not many. There really aren't many job fair options for non-URMs and non-IP people, so I've been pleasantly surprised with how things are going. I know of a few people in our class who have had similar success by just being proactive, following up on resumes, meeting with people, etc. Sending your resume out into the void is typically not TCR.

I've sent out about 150 resumes into the void, I got a lot of reposes from my home market and few interviews set up there, however in the markets I have weak/no ties to I've gotten lots of rejections and silence. I recommend everyone spam their hometown/markets with ties. But I'd caution people just blanketing ever firm in every city, it's probably a waste of time, unless of course you have top top grades.

I am actually pleasantly surprised with my results, but I also am targeting the Midwest and got some love that others may not have gotten.
