you actually don't need a student id if you go online and make a request. But you still need the id to use it technically. I threw all my work clothes in a garbage bag unfolded, tied it up, and was like "not gonna need these for a few years." I brought them with me, but they definitely need to be dry cleaned and pressed. That's the last thing I wanted to do this week.

Same here. I'm not doing that. I think I have a pair of slacks that I left out and a button up. That's the best they're getting from me.JCougar wrote:I threw all my work clothes in a garbage bag unfolded, tied it up, and was like "not gonna need these for a few years." Yeah, I was told the same thing. This is a big let down -- I don't even own a suit and was hoping to put that purchase off for a while.llfurby wrote:I asked admissions a few weeks ago about what to wear for orientation.
They said business for the first day and business casual for the rest of the week(except for the Service Project)

Did any of you plan to interview for jobs, attend law firm sponsored happy hours / receptions, or work before graduation? You could not realistically expect to arrive at a Professional degree program without at least a single suit on constant standby.Rock Chalk wrote:Same here. I'm not doing that. I was not denying the importance of a suit, just didn't think I would need one before classes even start.rhit2004 wrote:Did any of you plan to interview for jobs, attend law firm sponsored happy hours / receptions, or work before graduation? +1. I have suits, just never planned to unpack them for orientation.publiuspublicola wrote:I was not denying the importance of a suit, just didn't think I would need one before classes even start.rhit2004 wrote:Did any of you plan to interview for jobs, attend law firm sponsored happy hours / receptions, or work before graduation? And when you say "business" on the first day... to me that means full suit and tie. Then buiss-cas the rest of the week is slacks and collared shirts?

Re: WUSTL Class of 2013
At last year's orientation there was one day where a suit was necessary because they were taking a photo that they give employers (or so they say) and to do the group photo (nearly all guys wore suits for this). All the other days I dressed bus casual, as did most people, but honestly it wasn't probably necessary, and I woulda been fine, if in the minority, in a polo and shorts or something.

Stopped at admissions office today. First day is professional dress (yes, suit and tie for guys) for a class photo and a composite photo they said gets sent to employers. After that, she said its business casual and khaki shorts and a polo would be fine

from the pictures i saw of the past 2 classes (2011, 2012 - hanging in the busch hall) it seems like a dress shirt was enough. a few people wore ties. the picture won't even show your pants unless you're in the front or on the ends of each side.fl0w wrote:llfurby wrote:I asked admissions a few weeks ago about what to wear for orientation.

I just got mine today. Make sure you fill out the form online at the WashU Transportation site before you go there to pick it up or they won't give it to you.Oban wrote:you actually don't need a student id if you go online and make a request. I'm definitely gonna catch some Blues games. They're actually reasonably priced here.Oban wrote:I know we had a few hockey fans in here before. I plan on going to more than a few Blues Games. Someone mentioned sushi before. Last night I went to the Drunken Fish with my family and it was great! The server really made the meal, and it was during happy hour so everything was cheaper.
I know we had talked about meeting up for Sushi sometime this weekend but I'm not sure if any plans were made.

I went to the admission office one hour ago and got the same answer: business for the 1st day and business casual for the rest of the week.fl0w wrote:llfurby wrote:I asked admissions a few weeks ago about what to wear for orientation.

Another thing is that our ID cards have been transferred to the law school admission office, so if anyone wanna to pick up their ID, go to law school admission office.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
