yeah i looks pretty good. i was choosing between there and another place. my only concern with the carleton is that the studios are smaller than other places i saw, but unlike many other places it looks quite new.myq wrote:Just started looking around for apartments. Anybody have any experience with FrontDoorSTL or a building called The Carleton? Looks like my favorite in my (very brief) search so far.

When I visited I saw a few buildings in CWE (Park 44, Park Frontenac, Towne House, and Montclair on the Park). If anyone wants to know about them let me know. I liked the CWE but wound up with a nice apartment in Clayton (less stuff in the area but it felt much safer). When is everyone moving in?nyyankees wrote:oh yeah and if anyone is down there and is checking out apts near the CWE, PM me or somethin. Ill check out padmapper later.

I haven't driven thru the sidestreets of Demun, but after driving on Skinker from the interstate to Delmar a few times, I can tell you that it looks fantastic. It looks full of big, gorgeous old houses and apartment complexes. Even my friends from Chicago (who think of St. Louis as their doormat) thought the Demun neighborhood looked wonderful. Like I said, I haven't ever been on any of the side streets so they could be a dump, but the neighborhood looked gorgeous from Skinker.Stephanie13 wrote:
Ooh let me know what you think of the Demun area! I think that's the area you're talking about south of campus. I'm interested in that area and also the area by the Loop south of Delmar. I know everyone says its not the safest place but if you happen to go around there can you let me know? I'm determined to live near campus and I'd rather live near the Loop where there is more activity than in Demun where it seems tamer.
My roommate and I are looking at a couple of places tomorrow in Demun and near the Loop just south of Delmar (the two places you said you're interested in). In fact, the place we think we'll end up getting is just south of Delmar, a bit northeast of campus. I'll send you a Facebook message with my opinions on the area after tomorrow.

I just got my scholarship offer upped significantly, so it looks like I'll almost definitely be attending wash u in the fall. I withdrew almost all my apps (including the only other school I deposited at). Go bears!

Didn't apply for the Sonnenschein, but I did apply for another scholarship. I would assume these awards have separate endowments from the SiL awards, but they seem to be delayed and so perhaps also affected by the scholarship $$ issues discussed elsewhere in this thread. For Webster decisions, I was first told end of March, then end of April, and now it is mid-May and they are still deliberating.kdw94780 wrote:Did anyone apply for the Sonnenschein program? I thought they were supposed to notify applicants by today according to the letter, but I haven't heard back at all.

I think we are all on the edge of our collective seats. Please share how you did it! Also I think I found your profile on LSN. Is your scholarship with them listed as a 3 year total or per year?

Apparently they're in need of high gpa's. I asked for more money when I was admitted two weeks ago, and they obliged yesterday.romothesavior wrote:

Yea, I'm pretty much decided on WashU. I need a change of scene, I love Dallas but St. Louis seemed really nice as well. Plus the opportunity to end up in Chicago, NYC, or DC is appealing to me. Now if only WashU would give me just a bit more money I can feel more comfortable with my decisionNU_Jet55 wrote:No problem! Re: WUSTL Class of 2013
Anybody thinking of doing a meal plan next year? I figure I'll do like 5 meals a day or something since I plan on being on campus from like 9-5. But their meal program is a point system and I have no idea how much I should get. Anybody thinking of going this route, and if so, what meal plan?
Also, I didn't realized WUSTL has such a large Jewish presence. My mom mentioned it the other day and I was skeptical, but then I was looking at these meal plans and they have kosher meal plans. Maybe I'll be able to find out where the cave where all the Jew money is!
