Am I the only one who has yet to find an apartment? I am becoming slightly nervous :|

Let's plan to do something the week before orientation. I have a wedding in Tulsa the weekend of the 21st (ARGH), but will be in town the whole week before.

AND. AND. My apartment is one block from the Flying Saucer.

You're probably not the only one, but you definitely should get on it, like, today. Ingot mine this last weekend, and most of the locators I met with only had three or four units left in each complex.

Is the Flying Saucer the bar at the Triangle or are there multiple?

It's at the Triangle. Also, has anyone tried to get a parking pass yet?

How did you go about getting it? The only ones I saw on the website were summer passes.

It is the summer one. Later in August, as it gets closer to its expiration date, I will automatically receive a notification to re-up for the fall.

I also have not -- eek! I'm trying to do this asap, since I'll be out of the country for about a month before school starts, and want to get it figured out before then (obvi).

i am going to pee my pants soon. so much suspense! i don't find out if we're getting into the on-campus housing until next week, so i haven't deposited anywhere. the lady made it sound like we had a decent shot at it, since less people qualify for a two-bedroom than a one-bedroom. i'm glad so many of you have secured housing, though!

USA Today article 6/24/10 by Doug Stanglin

The national recession can't stop Texas cities from growing. Four of the 10 fastest gainers -- including No. 1 Frisco -- are in the Lone Star State, according to Census population estimates out today.

USA TODAY's Haya El Nasser reports that Texas escaped much of the downturn because of a diversified economy that includes oil and high-tech.

From 2008 to 2009, 11 of the nation's 25 fastest-growing cities with more than 100,000 people were in Texas.

"The star of the Sun Belt,'' says demographer William Frey, of the Brookings Institution. "It's big cities, it's oil, it's the suburbs. It's a diversified economy. People are moving there for high-skilled and low-skilled kinds of jobs.''

Among the big Texas gainers: Dallas suburbs, such as McKinney, Carrollton and Lewisville; oil centers Odessa and Midland and high-tech hubs and state capital Austin Both Frisco and Odessa passed the 100,000 mark.

I sent my final trancript in today, and since I know some of you were asking, here is the address where it needs to be sent:

The University of Texas
Graduate and International Admissions Center
PO Box 7608
Austin, TX 78713-7608

It says that transcripts are to be submitted "no later than three weeks after your registration at the law school." It then has a phone number to call to make sure transcripts were received: 512-475-7391

It amuses me that the No. 1 city on the list (Albany, N.Y.) isn't even mentioned in the article.
