Chicago has been, like murderville this summer, but this weekend was particularly rough. According to the headline, there were 52 shootings this weekend, leaving 8 people dead.

Googling the addresses, Hyde Park is out of the shooting zone, but within about 10 blocks of several of them.

I don't intend to stir up any HP hype or hysteria, just passing along the news (and reminding you not to take the green line to HP).

Had a fun few days in Chicago this week. Went past the LS and hung out for a little bit today. Looked at apartments in HP and South Loop but if everything goes according to plan it looks like I'll be living in an awesome pad in HP this year and then moving north after that.

I got a letter today saying that I wasn't missing any information. I had been waiting for that info for quite some time--I never could understand why it takes two months to say "Yeah we have everything." It's good to hear that they are getting close(ish) to finishing everything up.

Has anyone heard about financial aid? I am still waiting for loan info. I think the first tuition bill comes in two months... anxious.

I still haven't gotten mine either, and its getting a little tiring. I called and emailed, and both times got the "its taking longer than expected" answer. I don't understand why it takes more than 10 weeks to write us all checks, but oh well. As long as I get it eventually...

I applied for gradplus on the 15th and got a letter from the gov saying I was eligible for the loans, but I have heard nothing from the school.

I think I applied as early as I was allowed, so I am just worried I screwed something up.

I received my loan information last week, the day after they said they had everything. It really was nerve-wracking waiting and wondering what I might have done wrong. Not the best system for applying, to say the least...

Just heard I got the pad I wanted in Hyde Park. I'd rather live up north but think it'll be good being close to school for 1L, plus the apartment is pretty baller.

Nah, but close by. It is on 53rd and Cornell. Way nicer than Regents for similar price.

Holler. I don't know why people like this movie. It's boring and the transitions are terrible. One scene a random girl takes dude's arm on the street, and the next it's morning and they're in bed talking about their dreams. And I don't really like the main character.
