So does the fact that there's new rankings out mean that new employment statistics are available? Have you guys been able to talk to any current 2Ls about their job prospects?

Probably you should trust your gut...I'm just sayin'Mattalones wrote:+1dmcbride wrote:Withdrew, they never said if I had any merit aid so who knows if I just freed up some for someone else?! Very poor communications from their admissions dept.
So far, they have lost my documents three times (I don't exist, but they are excited to have me there apparently?). Plus I have had only limited emails returned and have never had a phone call returned, even though they've given me a time and day by which they will return each phone correspondence. Even though I know I shouldn't, my instincts make it hard to not generalize that type of unprofessionalism to the whole LS ... Not weighing well on my feeling about attending.

For all those who got scholarships, what were your numbers? Also, how long did it take for the school to send out a response?

I'm a 1L at fordham. The link is to 2009 grads but the question was how did OCI go last year. In short, it was the worst year in recent memory. But most schools had very tough years. I think 15% getting BigLaw would be a generous estimate. They are expecting similar numbers for my OCI this fall, maybe a little better.starsong wrote:Fordham published new employment statistics a few weeks ago: http://law.fordham.edu/career-planning/17281.htmstegman wrote:So does the fact that there's new rankings out mean that new employment statistics are available? You guys should have it easier than us but probably not by much. You probably need to finish top 20-25% at least for a shot at biglaw. I'm not trying to be all doom and gloom, just want to level with you.
Study hard and let the chips fall where they may. Fordham is still a great degree to have and you'll have an edge over most NY area students.

Re: Fordham Class of 2013/2014
It's hard to make predictions for the future, but it seems the class of 2011 suffered the most. I'm cautiously optimistic about our OCI, mainly because only a tiny handful of firms deferred people all the way to 2012, and they will need to hire for our class year. I am hoping employers will return to pre-boom hiring levels soon!ZXCVBNM wrote:I'm a 1L at fordham. The link is to 2009 grads but the question was how did OCI go last year. Re: Fordham Class of 2013/2014
Thanks for the thoughts. I'm not sure this will be a purely linear pattern, i.e. 10-15% this year, 15-20% next year, 20-25% the following. This year suffered from a glut of talent in the pipeline as well as non-existent current economic demand. With the pipeline clearing and significant worldwide demand resuming (assuming no negative surprises along the way), I would expect to see numbers more along the lines of c/o 2005 for 2013 grads, i.e. top 1/3. But I could be wrong.ZXCVBNM wrote:I'm a 1L at fordham. The link is to 2009 grads but the question was how did OCI go last year. In short, it was the worst year in recent memory. Does anyone know anything about the new law school building? Are they planning to finish it before the class of 2013 graduates?

Re: Fordham Class of 2013/2014
I couldn't find anything on the website that mentioned when they were going to start or how long it would take. My undergraduate school just finished a new building and it took 1.5 years to build but it isn't a high rise in a big city so it doesn't really compare.hannah87 wrote:i believe that is the "plan." it would be great to be able to see it, but i HIGHLY doubt we'll set foot in italexanderkaim wrote:Does anyone know anything about the new law school building? I think they said this in 2006....construction in the city is a nightmare and the economy...well....the economy happened. I don't even think they broke ground on the proposed site, therefore it will not be completed in 2012 ...hannah87 wrote:weird- i could have sworn i'd read something like an estimated completion date of Fall 2012, but now I can't find anything.alexanderkaim wrote:I couldn't find anything on the website that mentioned when they were going to start or how long it would take. Hey guys, I was accepted by phone yesterday. They said they're mailing my info, but I logged into the ASW and saw the July due date for enrollment materials. Does anyone know what the enrollment materials consist of?

They have all the necessary permits and zoning stuff in order, but to the best of my understanding, the school is still working on raising money. Estimates I have heard are '12 or '13.hannah87 wrote:haha, clearly not. was just trying to remember where i'd read it.chicoalto0649 wrote:I think they said this in 2006....construction in the city is a nightmare and the economy...well....the economy happened. I'm not positive but I think they mean the documents listed on the 'Forms & Documents' tab of the ASW. So the registration form, the name change form, and the employment stipulation form.nygiants wrote:They released anything yet.Bailarina08 wrote:Hey guys, I was accepted by phone yesterday.
