Why do you guys think that shrinking the evening class is going to help the ranking? I don't follow this logic at all, so please expand.

For example, plenty of schools 20-30 have lower LSAT/GPA ranges than Fordham. This would be the main thing that increasing the FT class would improve, since the pool of students with high scores that are interested in an evening program is small. What else changes?

Nothing, but increasing the overall medians--even by a few points--can make all the difference. A net decrease in the total class size would help as well.

Everyones medians went up by a large margin this year. Don't feel too bad.

Placement statistics. From last year....

Yessir. We're both referring to the most recent available data it seems. Compare it to other schools ranked 15 and lower for NYC employment (from last year LOL) and see what you find.

If you think this is entirely irrelavent, please explain what changed that wouldn't proportionally affect every law school in the 15-200 range (i.e., why would GWU suddenly place super well in NYC relative to Fordham this year if in recent years they haven't? Employment reduction is across the board).

Does anyone have an idea of how much they shrunk their part time class? My brother has a 3.9 and a 164 and is on the WL.

I have a 3.69 and a 164 and was addmitted back in December...

I happen to think that Fordham places well in NYC in spite of, rather than because of, its ranking. Its very well regarded, has a strong alumni network, and places way better in biglaw than peer schools.

And I'm pumped. NYC here I come.

Instead of CC, overnight a check? If it's in their office on 4/15 you've met the deadline, regardless of whether they process it that day or not.

Called to deposit today. They said that they couldn't process my application b/c they still nee dot update my records. They also said they would call me Friday, which is after the deposit deadline. I asked if I could still be held accountable to the deadline. They said "no" but wouldn't put it in writing. They told me that I was NOT the only one. Has anyone had this happen here on TLS? Please let me know. I am a bit worried.

I'm kind of worried about my check. My deposit is confirmed via email and in the status checker but they haven't actually cashed the check.

I was out of personal checks so I submitted a handwritten (like the bank hand wrote my name and acct #) check that my bank gave me. I'm worried somehow there will be a problem processing this particular check (even tho the money is sitting tight in my acct so no problem with it bouncing per say) and that if this check doesn't go through that there will be complications with it being after the 15th. I hand delivered this thing weeks ago to avoid anything like this happening

Probably worrying for nothing but still worrying

Option 1: Fordham delegates someone to cash a shitload of checks on a daily or weekly basis. This probably requires a sit down with bank personnel to go through each one of the checks, including the strange ones like yours.

Option 2: Fordham sends someone to the bank on 4/16, forcing only one person to make one trip and take one bank employee's time, once.

If you were Fordham, what would you do?

My check isn't cashed yet either by the way.

Hey everyone I visited fordham and sat in on a class and loved it. I was very on the fence and pretty set on top20 schools, but I think i'm going to put a deposit down at fordham. The professor was engaging, intelligent, and even funny at times. The class was a young group, very few 1Ls appeared over 25 or so. At the start of class almost everyone was talking about the rankings drop. The students seemed annoyed that it might correlate to some change in prestige, but not worried about any kind of change in job prospects.


That being said, the school has yet to get back to me about merit aid, and with the exception of my acceptance email they haven't sent me ANYTHING. That type of unprofessionalism is annoying but I loved my visit and the students seem really happy there.
