Gotta work my way up. Next come cowboy boots, a 10-gallon chapeau, and an oversize belt buckle inscribed with thoughtful musings on the connection between the size of a state and its relative importance. Then cattle.catharsis wrote:LOL. that's hella legit man.. officially a TEXAN!!! now buy you some cattle..philosoraptor wrote:Just bought me some random West Texas land. I feel so legit now.

Does anyone know anything about the Colorado, Gateway, or Brackenridge on-campus apartment complexes? Since we aren't sure whether or not my husband will find a job, we've thought about living in family housing for a year, because it's so cheap. Anything horrible I should know about? Here's the link that shows the super awesome pricing that lured us: http://www.utexas.edu/student/housing/i ... e=2&id=287.

Wish I could tell you something but I don't know anyone who has lived there and honestly haven't ever even heard anything. Having said that, there is always the cardinal rule -if it sounds to good to be true then it probably is.adrib wrote:Does anyone know anything about the Colorado, Gateway, or Brackenridge on-campus apartment complexes? is it advisable to get covered parking? it's gonna cost an extra $50/month to get a standalone garage, but i don't want to be that douche. my car gets extremely over-heated, a/c has some issues, and some interior panels have started melting

I reading on some board to get some of your windows tinted to try to cut back on the melting.

I've always found simply putting up one of those sun-reflectors across my windshield helps a lot. I'm sure tinting windows would also help. No one would really think you are a douche for getting a garage.Pearalegal wrote:I'd get it, but I'm a wimp in the heat. Its...going to be an adjustment.

you need it in texas- especially if you care about your car and/or you have a leather interior. you're not going to be a douche if you have a garage either (plus i met you and you're def. not a douche lol).. people understand that it gets super hot in Texas. personally it would be a deal-breaker if my apartment didn't have a parking garage or covered parking for me.

totally wanted to get my windows tinted, but then i read that out-of-state tints are illegal in Texas. Every tinted window needs to have an imbedded sticker showing compliance with some statute and the vendor's IDPearalegal wrote:I'd get it, but I'm a wimp in the heat. i actually had thought that out of state tints would be exempt but in any case not every tinted window needs to have a sticker-- all you need is..f0bolous wrote:totally wanted to get my windows tinted, but then i read that out-of-state tints are illegal in Texas. ..one label be attached to the rearmost, bottom corner of the driver’s side window of the vehicle. The only information required on those labels by the Department was the manufacturer’s name and a statement indicating that the sunscreening device met our standards (“Complies with DPS” or “Complies with 37 Texas Administrative Code (TAC)”).

(not trying to correct you in a douchey way just trying to help. i know how important tint is.. especially in our Texas heat haha).
