Also, Georgetown is #1 in clinical programs and #3 in International Law. I like that.
I'm so excited about the clinical programs!!!

Ah! I have a job interview at a law firm for a job this summer. I hope it works out!! I really need to save money for DC!

Good luck!! I hope you get the job!

I'll be in Europe for like 6 weeks this summer, therefore spending every dime I have. It doesn't seem like the best idea considering how much law school costs, but you only live once right? The bad thing is that I really prefer to stay in hotels over hostels, and I'm not being as thrifty as I should be because I like staying in nice hotels right in the center of the cities. Oh well, when will I have the opportunity to do this again once law school starts, right?

What is everyone else doing this summer?

I've written a few novels in the last several years. They all sucked though. Editing is harder than writing. Also I have questionable taste, so my novels are nigh unreadable.
I'm spending my summer going to the beach, working out and possibly going to Mexico for a week with my best friend. I might do a little basic law reading, but no heavy prep.

Ooh, also! Today at work I met a woman who is close friends with Senator Gillibrand. I totally charmed her, and she told me she will invite me to a luncheon with the Senator. She also told me she could probably get me an internship in Washington after my 1L year. I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch, but it would sure be nice to be friendly with a senator. I'm a big fan of Gillibrand's, so I think my intimate knowledge of both her congressional campaigns sealed the deal for me. Being a policy geek pays off!

I think this diversity of opinion is awesome because even though there are a lot of us, we won't be competing for the same jobs, internships, etc. Plus potential for interesting debates.

Schmoozing is one of my few talents, haha! I'm pretty good at reading people and figuring out what type of humor they like. It's also about revealing facts about yourself that the other person finds appealing. I'm not good at much else (can't sing, dance or draw.)

I agree. I love when there are differences of opinion because there is always an opportunity to learn something new. If we all felt the same way, then instead of arguing over our disagreements, we'd be fighting over the same jobs, guys, etc.!

CHOO CHOO!!!
i still question how gtown could POSSIBLY be behind cornell. so weird.
+1 i've always wondered the same thing!

As I pointed out in the other thread, and then was brutally beaten down over (I didn't feel like debating much last night), Georgetown is the only school in the T-14 that has a part time program. By their very nature, Part-Time programs are less selective, but selectivity ratings count as a quarter of the USNews score. Georgetown's stats for selectivity are already better than Cornell's (and a couple others that I can't remember off the top of my head) in LSAT and comparable to them for GPA. Problem is, if they took out the Part-Time program scores in coming up with those numbers, then Georgetown's selectivity rating would be even hgher. Now I didn't bother trying to do the math, but I'd guess that if they completely separated Part-Time scores from full-time when rating the law schools (because no other T-14 school has one) then Georgetown would vault easily over Cornell and would likely be tied with Virginia.

If it is such a drag on the school, why doesn't Georgetown just do away with the part-time program? "I have nothing against the part-time program or people in it, just curious."

I might be wrong, but didn't GW's rank fall 8 spots once they began including PT numbers in the ranking? And then climbed back up this year because they made their part time program just as difficult to get in to as their FT program?

Did Georgetown make any adjustment to their PT median numbers in a way similar to GW? If they did that this year, I imagine next year we would see a jump.

Part time stats weren't even included in USNWR until last year. GULC has been #14 for much longer than that.

I don't think your having accepted makes you lose eligibility for scholarship money. I wouldn't imagine it to be so, but I really don't know.
