Long-time lurker and in last Friday (RD).
Spent my call w/ Trujillo stumbling over the English language. Still stunned and unable to feel face.

Come on, not even at Xmas? I guess it is kind of an obscure reference but still, one of the funniest movie moments ever.slider wrote:Philo38 wrote:Congratulations. I had the same experience.LSlobbyist wrote:Long-time lurker and in last Friday (RD).

Clark: Hey, Kids, I heard on the news that an airline pilot spotted Santa's sleigh on its way in from New York City. [the kids sit up excitedly]
Eddie: . . . . Are you serious, Clark?

Certainly funnier than unintentionally slipping up his name.

Re: UVA Class of 2013
Alright guys and girls, so I left DC around 7:30 AM on Tuesday after surviving the record setting snowstorm that ravaged the region and was bestowed the lovely name of "Snowpacolypse 2009" by some clever local news stations. As seen in these photos.

I rolled into Charlottesville around 10:30, which is around 45 minutes longer than it would take under normal circumstances when the are wasn't covered in 2 feet of snow. First stop was a self tour of the law school, which was every bit the impressive and beautiful building that I was expecting.

Snow filled lawn in front of the school, looking toward the Copeley Graduate Residences.

First stop on the self guided tour was the library. Very clean and modern, talked to two people who were working behind desks and were very friendly and courteous.

The hallway in between the library and Scott Commons was filled with lockers on one side, looking out to Spies Garden and a reading room that looked to be sound proof.
Lockers

Snowed in outside patio and sitting area at the back of the school.

Scott Commons

Caplin Reading Room

So after headed to the second floor of Slaughter and meeting with Dean Trujillo, which was very informative and I recommend to anyone attending or considering UVA as he is an encyclopedia of information and extremely helpful, I headed down the sidewalk towards Darden and the North Grounds Rec Center. The gym and workout facilities included just about anything you could need and could accommodate just about any workout you might want.
Darden School of Business (sorry my other pics didn't turn out)

From there it was on to Ivy Gardens, where I supposed to get a tour of an apartment but because of the weather the office was closed. So I had to settle for some pics of the outside of the apartments.

Next I went by the Football Stadium, which was very interesting and shared the same Jeffersonian column architecture as the rest of the school.

Took a stroll through the historic downtown mall.

Finally, walking through the main grounds you can't helped but be struck by the history and architecture of the Rotunda and the Lawn.

Last but not least a picture that gives you an idea of what the Virginia Country looks like about 15 miles outside Charlottesville.

Thanks for the pics and the info, you know you've done a good job when you get a non-snarky response from hopefulundergrad.

Does anyone know the best cell phone service provider in terms of reception on campus and also in Ivy Garden apartments? My contract with my current carrier is up in January, and I'd hate to renew without knowing what works best in C'Ville...

Both AT&T and Verizon have good coverage across the city... AT&T's service kind of sucks if you venture outside of C-ville, don't know whether Verizon fares better though.lnz103 wrote:Does anyone know the best cell phone service provider in terms of reception on campus and also in Ivy Garden apartments?
