Heading over next week to look at apartments, any suggestions for specific complexes from you guys? Ideally looking for something on or close to the bus route to avoid paying $$ for a parking sticker

HaHa I was so confused. I am running in a race on July 11th and know that is only about 67 days away. I was wondering how school was starting before then!mcflooter06 wrote: Haha, until my last day of work. Agh, I'm so sick of it... Ready to have some free time.

Already here! HaHa Will be moving into my new place August 13th though... or something like that. The one thing I hate about Austin is that it always seems that your old lease ends before your new one begins. I have definitely spent some time on people's couches because I had to be in town for work but didn't have a current lease.mcflooter06 wrote:I'll be there August 1, and I'll have a looot of downtime, so I'm up for drinks! I'd love to actually meet some of my future classmates BEFORE we start school.
Yes to drinks. I know a little Ice-house that has cheap beer and is an awesome place.

The one nice thing is that I heard the societies have some pre-orientation activities scheduled for anyone in the city. I'm sure they're not any earlier than a week or so before orientation, but still!

Same day I'll be moving in, though I'll be traveling back and forth from my current place to my Austin place until mid-July most likely.rputt3256 wrote:I second this! Going to try to move back home to Florida at least a month before school starts, so I'm really looking forward to relaxing a bit.
Unfortunately, that means I'll be doing two major moves, the first 1,200 miles and the second almost 900. Anyone else moving a similar distance, and if so, what's your plan?
I moved last year from MD to TX. I was going to use a Uhaul but after doing some research I found out that ABF Upack is a better deal than Uhaul. It is still not cheap, but you load a truck, pay for only the space you use, and they drive it to your new place. I found loaders/unloaders for both ends on Craigslist. Overall it was the cheapest and easiest way to do the move.

A while back you mentioned brand new apartments that were really nice and affordable. I'm definitely interested in finding out the name....will be in Austin next week to finalize living arrangements. Please share. Thanks.

At ASW a 3L suggested getting a 1 BR to avoid potential roomate issues since there will be no time or mental energy to deal with furstrating issues.

Re: Texas 2013
I got a 1 BR for the above reasons...the idea of moving in with someone who I didn't know in the slightest gave me flashbacks to being 17 and entering college again.
Hopefully for 2L I'll have made some friends I can live with and save up more cash.
