Good luck with NYU!MSPeast wrote:My odds of going to Georgetown are now up to 99%. I'm told (I'm in Austin at the moment) that my Cornell finaid letter came and wasn't that impressive ($10K/yr), so I'll withdraw from there, and I only like Austin (UT Law itself is cool, but I would have to LOVE Austin for me to go there), so I'll withdraw from there, too. Just waiting on NYU's April WL bloodbath, basically.
I feel so relieved now that I'm finally done with my cycle and I've committed to Georgetown. Though, on all my withdrawal emails, I asked for confirmation that they've received it, and for some reason only UVA got back to me.

Do you all think the Financial Aid office is open weekends? I still have no data, even after sending them my passport (they couldn't prove I'm a real amerikun!), tax return, dad's tax return, first born baby, favorite pair of boots and ability to conjugate in spanish.
They were so nice at ASW that I almost didn't believe them when they said they were overworked.

Probably not. The earliest you'll probably hear something is Monday, I would think. Meanwhile, on a Saturday night, at the age of 21, I am watching Flashforward, then going to the movies like a 13 year old. Ha, can't wait til law school. Or actually, summer.volsi wrote:Do you all think the Financial Aid office is open weekends? Hey all! Just wanted to say hello, welcome and congratulate you all. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me here or via PM. I'm finishing up my first year, but I'm a JD/MBA student, so I'll technically be graduating with you!
Good luck with the preparations and moving!

Sorry. I don't really know what else to say. If it makes you feel any better I am leaving my wife and son 9 hours or so away. So, possible you can make the distance work.starrydecisus wrote:Still in undergrad and planning to stay in-state for law schoolUnitas wrote:Is he not invited?starrydecisus wrote:Just told the bf that I'm for sure going to Georgetown. Eh, I figure it will be easier if they stay here, then them being with me where I will be distracted - at least for 1L.. After 1L they may move up, all depends. My in-laws will help out and our house has room for them to stay. It's all good.. Try and get your boyfriend to come to Georgetown... Could be like a legally blonde thing.starrydecisus wrote:It's okay! Georgetown is my dream <3Unitas wrote:Sorry. I don't really know what else to say. I'm the exact same boat as you. How far away is she? We've been dating for more than two years, so we're going to do the long distance relationship thing. Luckily, there are tons of flights between our two cities and it's only around 2 and a half hours by plane. Between her coming up for weekends and my coming down for breaks and occasional weekends I think it'll be alright. Hopefully after she graduates (end of my 1L year) she'll come up to DC for grad school.Revisionist wrote:My girlfriend has another year of undergrad left and we're still trying to figure out what to do. Unitas -- that's a tough situation, but I'm sure you'll make it through. Hopefully it'll just make your relationship stronger.

Haha, I meant him working his arse off to get into Georgetown to be with her - then her asking why he was there... That kinda thing.Kim617 wrote:Sorry, but I've already filled the legally blonde quotaUnitas wrote:

js87, we'll be fine - we've been married for over 8 years. Honestly, we've been through worse. Get your girlfriend to go to Georgetown and then you should get the mba so you could both be class of 2014...

Off campus. Happy to give house-/apartment-hunting tips to anyone who's interested, but if you don't have a pet, a spouse, or loads of furniture you have to bring, the dorms make life really easy first year. They're not glamorous, but they're awfully convenient.starrydecisus wrote:Thank you very much!gilchristh wrote:Hey all! Just wanted to say hello, welcome and congratulate you all. Re: GULC c/o 2013
It's at least four and a half hours by plane, but neither of us will have the money to fly back and forth regularly anyway. We've been together for a year and a half, and spending almost that much time apart (she has to do an internship the summer after she graduates) seems so long. Ugh. It's good to know there will be others in the same situation if we end up trying the long distance thing though. I hope it works out for you!js87 wrote:I'm the exact same boat as you. I'm interested! I'm finding the no-broker thing kind of scary. I'd almost rather pay someone and have them show me a bunch of apartments. I'm too old for the dorms (in my own mind anyway. Not judging anyone else ), so it's off campus for me.gilchristh wrote:Off campus. Re: GULC c/o 2013
hey all,
i'm a little confused on the myaccess + financial aid front. everyone here seems to know what's up, so i figured i'd take it here.
i had two missing requirements on the financial aid page: the yellow sheet (which had been submitted, and now shows up as complete) and the financial aid interview requirement, which turns out to to be the online counseling. i did the online counseling last week. i did not send anything directly in to georgetown, and assumed all was well as the mappingyourfuture people seem to do all that. it still shows up as a missing requirement though.
before i send in my deposit at georgetown, i need to know about my loan/grant/etc situation. and i really want to deposit!
love georgetown, love dc, looking forward to meeting everyone here
any wisdom, knowledge, advice helps! haha even if it's "be patient. wait. it will show up soon."
thanks!

Re: GULC c/o 2013
So on Myaccess it just updated today to inform me that I am missing W2s and Tax Returns from myself and my parents. Pretty lame they wait till now to tell me. Anyway, does anyone know if that is something I can fax in or does it have to be mailed?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
