Just trying to be absolutely sure here: All that must be done by today is to accept/activate your e-fan right? I've done that, just haven't done any of the signing the fed promissory note stuff and the required counseling and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a deadline.

quick question. i never filled out a FAFSA. is it too late to do that/ receive an award? I imagine the answer is yes... but if anyone knows differently please let me know.

I received a scholarship from UT, but that's separate from financial aid, correct? When I look at my finaid on the website, it says I have no awards, but I truly hope that's referring to awards from Financial Aid/ FAFSA based and not the merit award I was given with my acceptance... were we supposed to do something to claim the scholarship?

quietly freaking out over what I hope is nothing

merit scholarships should be under previous financial aid notifications. they usually don't appear on the same screen with the grants and loans

Merit aid doesn't show up in your e-fan stuff, but it's accounted for if you subtract the amount of loans to be received from the estimated COA.

Do you still have your letter? I think most said that the deadline to accept was May 1st, but could differ.

I'm in the same situation. I filled out my Fafsa back in February, but when I called the Financial Aid office earlier this week they told me that it hadn't been reported to them. I resubmitted on Friday and called the Financial Aid office again. They told me I didn't miss any important deadlines. They'll evaluate my Financial Aid application once they get the FAFSA info (in one or two weeks) and notify me of my awards/eligibility soon thereafter.

So I'm not too worried yet. I'm going to call again in a couple of days just to make sure.

I'm hoping to economize on rent. I've found some efficiency apartments for around $400; I'm hoping that'll make a big difference to my budget.

But about wardrobe...what do you need the fancy attire for? I figure I'll need it for job interviews...including interviews for summer jobs. Are they required in any other settings? And what should I expect to pay for a suit? All I own are jeans and t-shirts at this point.

Eh, it's a bluff. If this guy were actually serious about gunning, he would have looked up the easily accessible booklist archives, bought everything listed, read and outlined thoroughly before being assigned a section, and then bragged about it on Freshlaw.

Does anyone else feel like the next couple of months are going to drag by?

The excitement of choosing a new school is over. Now its just pulling off the 9-6 for the next couple of months and waiting.

I know I'll never have a job as fun or as laid-back as my current one, but it's still tough not to check out mentally. (On the other hand, I'll make more money in even the crappiest legal job, so I guess that's the tradeoff.) Going to try to move back home to Florida at least a month before school starts, so I'm really looking forward to relaxing a bit.

Unfortunately, that means I'll be doing two major moves, the first 1,200 miles and the second almost 900. Anyone else moving a similar distance, and if so, what's your plan?

I'll be moving from Boston. I looked into renting Uhaul only to find out that it is fucking expensive. I'm no seriously considering selling everything I own that I can't fit into a suitcase and a couple UPS boxes and flying down.

I've heard of people doing this and saying it's cheaper to sell everything and buy new stuff off craigslist than it is to move all their stuff.

This is probably what I'll end up doing for most things. Definitely can't afford a U-haul or one of those shipping services (let alone doing it twice), but I'll still need to make the drive(s) because I have to bring my car.
