Hey guys,

I just went to Ithaca last weekend and got my apartment for the upcoming year. I was just wondering if anyone could let me know how my location is as far as social life. I am living in a studio across from collegetown bagels in college ave, so like 2 blocks from the law school. Where do law students usually go out?

Sounds like the standard law student area, but you would be better off asking this in the Cornell 1L taking questions thread. We are a bunch of new admits here.

I'm sure I'll be more active here once my summer job starts up and I am avoiding work.

Well, they stopped accepting apps on March 1st. And you're trying to sign a lease in Ithaca. So, uh, no. Better never, and that they'd saved the postage.

And I only tease about the parties. I'm living alone for the first time in my life, and worrying (unnecessarily, I know) that I won't be as social as I should be. So I'll go ahead and make a public declaration now: I will host a party at my apartment as soon as everyone's in town, if you're game.

I found this really awesome 2 bdr apartment in collegetown. Cute house, recently renovated, lots of space. Own apartment (so own kitchen and bathroom separate from rest of house). 4min walk to the Law school. I just need a roommate, so PM me if interested. The landlord describes the occupents ot be "quiet and studious".

Girl. 23. nonsmoker. no pets.

So I have created a secret Facebook group for TLS Cornell Class of 2013. PM me with your email address and I will send the invite to join.

Because it is a secret group, membership will not appear on your profile, and no one will be able to find it in search results (until Facebook f*cks that up).

Edit: Also make sure that the email address is the one you use for Facebook. Some have had issues if the email is not the main email for their Facebook account. Use your Facebook contact email, which is under Account Settings, Settings, Email. It should be the address next to "Set your email contact information".

I propose Demetri Martin's Socratic method game. Before class, we select a ridiculous secret word. Then you get one point for every time you can weave that word into the class discussion if called on. Bring flasks, take a shot every point, turn it into a drinking game.

I got an email on April 9th from Dean Geiger thanking me for sending my second seat deposit. It also said they would be sending me my net id and a packet of information about orientation and registration in "a few weeks." Nothing yet.

You are in an ideal location. That is where the bars and restaurants are and its a 2 minute walk to school. Grad students do sometimes go out in downtown Ithaca, but I wouldn't recommend living there because its not walking distance to school.

Checking in, just got accepted this week and will be committing soon I think. Anyone else get accepted this late? Also I was wondering what the turn-around time is for merit/need scholarship information? I mailed the financial aid form, my/my parents' tax returns and W2's today priority so I am hoping they will be able to review it Monday at the latest.
