I'm not used to having a roommate, but I hope that no GULC student would need Judge Judy to resolve their crazy roommate problems. The single options take up a huge chunk of the monthly budget and I imagine any room in Gewirz would be used primarily for relaxing and sleeping.
I don't even want to think of studying in my home - I have enough trouble battling insomnia as is.
And it's not as bad having a roommate when you have separate bedrooms. There are a few reasons I ever have problems with roommates, and most involve me trying to sleep and them leaving the lights on or something. The other is a dirty kitchen-- it's unacceptable to me.

OMG so gross. When I lived in Italy, I was like the mom. I love to cook, so I made dinner for everyone. All I asked was that they clean the dishes, since I cooked. Instead, I did both, including cleaning the whole apartment. Whatevs, I'd rather it be clean than be spiteful and leave it there. Plus, I cook better, so I wasn't going to depend on them to cook LOLvolsi wrote:ditto on the dirty kitchen! That's my number one peeve. Yeah. I'm probably going to rank my preferences on the housing app in order from cheapest to most expensive, haha. I've lived with roommates for the past six years and I've never had problems with any of them, so I'm not too worried about it. It will be a little different not knowing them beforehand though.Burberry by Burberry wrote:Is anyone else considering one of the three-bedroom options at Gewirz in order to save money? I was this person when I lived with a roomie in Nashville. Also vacuuming dog hair (dog wasn't mine)...I love the social aspects of having a roommate, but when it becomes more of a chore than its worth, it can be a total pain. By the time I was living with someone, though, I really needed to save the money, and in that instance, it cut my rent in half - so looking back, it was worth it.Kim617 wrote:OMG so gross. I went with the 3 bedroom option as my first choice and the 2 bedroom as my 2nd. I've spent my whole undergraduate career in a fraternity house, so whatever I get will be an upgrade. I like having people around, and I never study in my living space, I prefer to block off 4-5 hour chunks of time for the library instead.

I was thinking of going the less expensive route. 2-bedroom efficiency. Living room isn't THAT important. Plus, when I stayed with a student at ASW, they barely even used their living room. She didn't recommend the 3-bedroom for girls, but I don't know, I could really do with saving the money. I've lived on campus all four years of undergrad, and share my apartment with 4 girls and it's not that bad.
I'm a little nervous too about the random pairing.

Looks like I'm a little late to this party, but I finally visited DC this past weekend and I think I'm leaning towards Georgetown. I just need to convince myself that I'm not crazy to give up $ at UCLA and all the perks of going to school 7 miles from the Pacific for a city where it snowed like 8 feet this year...
And to catch myself up on the last 500 posts...let's go Giants, Yankees, (and yeahhh Duke! - that's for anyone who I didn't already alienate with my first two teams), I think I'm leaning toward living in Gewirz, but haven't even looked at housing options yet, and like everyone else I would love some scholarship money from Georgetown, but it looks like that's not happening since I just got the letter in the mail today with the "Your contribution: Everything, Ours: Nothing" breakdown of expenses. I think that pretty much covers everything.
Oh, and I know absolutely nothing about the Good Wife.

So, grants don't show up on myaccess yet? I haven't gotten the award letter yet, because I forgot the business/farm supplemental form (and had to call to find out that I did...which is a really bad system) and I'm dying to know if I got any grants... It is honestly looking like I did not, as I am showing 44K in federal loans on myaccess right now...
I'm sure that the education is worth the mountain of debt, but still it would've been nice....
At least the LRAP is good...

In all seriousness, how are they going to be better than last year with no running game and a shell of a pass rush. I can tell you from following my own team's decline that this is a recipe for disaster.
Also, stay classy Tiki.

Are there floor plans of any of the Gerwiz rooms available? Which ones have living rooms? Are there kitchens? Have I missed something?

One other concern I have about LRAP: I'm looking at the examples given on the website
and none of them seem to be in the areas I was thinking of working in (a federal administrative or regulatory agency, like the State Department or SEC). Does anyone know if these types of jobs typically qualify for LRAP?Asylum Aid , The Children's Law Center, Catholic Legal Immigration Network Inc., Legal Aid, Public Defender Offices, Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, Rocky Mountain Legal Defense Fund, ACLU, District Attorney, County Prosecutor, etc.

That's what I'd always figured. I just thought it was strange that they didn't list a single agency of that type in their examples.Torvon wrote:Working for the government in any form (local, state, federal) qualifies for LRAP assistance.night06 wrote:One other concern I have about LRAP: I'm looking at the examples given on the website

I was the exact same way a few weeks back, I kept researching looking for some kind of catch or strings that were attached. Have you seen the video yet? I would watch the video, it makes it sound even better.

are working in a position that requires or requests a JD (a law-related field). The same holds true for NGO positions.
Clerking doesn't count, but if you do it for the year after law school you can likely get your loans deferred for a year and then do LRAP after that, provided you are in a qualifying position.
I am still impressed with Kim's scholarship. So awesome.

hahaha...The AndyMan (for some reason, after getting "The Andy Bar" at ASW, I always call him that now haha) just tweeted "waiting impatiently for May 3's deposits..." I almost want to tweet back: "waiting impatiently for scholarship decision..." But I shall resist. I would just feel so much better withdrawing from other schools (turning down significant $$) and committing to GULC if I just had a little aid! I just love GULC so much! Please love me back <3

I sort of feel like this is all my fault. I'm like the kiss of death. I get Tiki's jersey like 2002ish, and well actually he had his best years after that, but then retired and became a douche. Then I got Jeremy Shockey's around the same time as Tiki's, and he turns out to be a big douche/injury prone. Then I get Osi Umenyiora's before the 2007 season, he has a good year, we win the Superbowl, and then the pass rush commits suicide. I was thinking about getting Eli's jersey but then I could foresee a 20 interception type of season.
I think the main problem was not the DEs but definitely the DTs last year. THey need a lot more pressure up the middle. Plus, it didn't help that the linebackers were pathetic, and the defense really deflated when Phillips went down. On the bright side, the WRs were good (steve smith <3) and they're young, so hopefully they get better. I also don't believe that the GIants have no running game. Their RBs are not used properly. Jacobs should be pounding the ball in the beginning, and then Bradshaw should come in and switch it up. It was weird the way they were used last year. We'll see what happens in the draft. Unfortunately, I'll be in Germany, but I'll have to try and keep up online if I have a chance.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
