They may be...as I said above I have never been inside, nor have I done any research on them. I have only walked by the building many times. All I can tell you is that they are in a prime location.

Also, if anyone with an apartment across from the law school is looking for a roommate, I'd definitely be interested.

Got the phone call yesterday!!! My first decision of the cycle! It seems like a lot people live in one bedroom apartments. Is that the norm? I think I would like to live with another law student just so I'm not so lonely lol. I would be moving from Florida and I know absolutely no one in Minnesota.

Check out the admitted students page on the UMN law website. Also, join the 2013 facebook group...I'm sure there is someone who would be willing to room with you.
Congrats, and prepare yourself for a substantial shift in climate paradigm.

Re: University of Minnesota 2013
I was accepted by phone call on Thursday, and I'm psyched. Managed to get into the FB page, but not able to get into the admitted students part of the MN Law website yet. I take it this usually takes a few days--true? Does anybody know when ASW will be? I can't wait to get my snail mail...
Thanks for all the info on housing, guys. I'm from the suburbs of MPLS and know the city pretty well, but still found a lot of the info helpful...
Congrats to everybody who has been accepted, and I'm sure everybody else will get into some other great schools.

Campus Preview weekends are March 5-6 and April 17-18. If you want, I could email you the agendas in .pdf format. I'm planning to visit the March one, hope to see some of you there.

Thanks for offering, but I actually got my snail mail today! I totally missed that there was a back side to the Campus Preview Weekend page until I read your post, and had been a little disappointed I'd have to wait until April. I think I might have to get a plane ticket for March as well. See you there!

I think I am going to attend the March weekend as well. It will be nice to possibly know some people also attending! I think its awesome they offer a $300.00 reimbursement to travel up there for the weekend.

I'll be the guy named Neil. Will you be the guy in the Gopher costume? (Is this the U of M of which you're the biggest fan?) I didn't see anything in the packet about being reimbursed the $300, but I haven't read everything I got in the package fully, and I have heard elsewhere we can be reimbursed, contingent on attending. Possibly the offer isn't extended to me because I applied as a resident, or maybe it's a merit-based thing. Anyhow, would be cool...uofmsbiggestfan wrote:I think I am going to attend the March weekend as well. It will be nice to possibly know some people also attending! Lol I wish I was the guy in the gopher suit! Actually the U of M is for Michigan, but since I am 99.9% sure I'm getting my rejection letter in the mail sometime this week it will now be for Minnesota! I believe the reimbursement is only for non-residents.

I went "in review" on Jan 6th, does anyone know how long you're in review for before receiving a decision? Or is "in review" the equivalent of "complete" for other schools? Thanks.

The travel reimbursement info arrived a couple weeks after my acceptance call. I don't know if it's offered to both nonresidents and residents though.Neil wrote:I'll be the guy named Neil. Re: University of Minnesota 2013
In relation to parking:
I noticed a garage directly across from the law school building that advertised monthly rates so I gave them a call. She told me that parking would be $56 a month for a Monday through Friday 6am to 6pm deal and $75 for a 24/7 permit.
Regular hourly parking (i.e. if you go over the 6pm) is $2 for the first half hour and then $1 per half hour up to for the first 4 hours ($9) and then it stays at a flat $9 for hours 4-12.
I asked if I signed up for a year long permit could I get a discount of some sort and she said they didn't have any, but you can avoid the 1 time registration fee ($25) if you sign up for at least 3 months.
The number is 612-445-0709

Ah, okay, thanks. I will plan on making the trip either way and just hope reimbursement will be an option. I'm thinking March, but haven't bought the ticket or anything... April would be less cold...

Just bought a ticket for $215. I'd highly recommend CheapOAir or Expedia if you're on a budget. See you in March!

I just checked my Travel Reimbursement Form and it says "Any admitted non-resident attending one of these weekends is eligible." Sorry to create any false hope there.uofmsbiggestfan wrote:Lol I wish I was the guy in the gopher suit! No worries, I was kinda assuming that would be the case. Makes sense. And my family lives in MN, so I was planning on making a spring trip anyways...JOThompson wrote:I just checked my Travel Reimbursement Form and it says "Any admitted non-resident attending one of these weekends is eligible."
