How are Cornell acceptances released? Random snail mail? Email?

Re: Cornell 2013
My status checker updated to decision, so I just called up the admissions office the next day and got it over the phone. A snail mail packet followed soon after.groundkontrol wrote:How are Cornell acceptances released? Random snail mail? Email?

Yeah, a common concern for serial killers trying not to come off as serial killers....DUN DUN DUN....
Just kidding grifter. Have you tried contacting someone from your undergrad who is there now and willing to let you couch surf for 2 nights? I did that during my visit, and found a few people from my undergrad willing to house me.

Re: Cornell 2013
Damn it Cornell, why are you so geographically undesirable? I love everything about Cornell except the absolute logistical nightmare of getting to Ithaca. There are no direct flights from my location (Florida) to either Ithaca or Syracuse, and many of the connecting flights have long stretches of several hours between them. I checked all THREE international airports close to my home. Attending the ASW is proving to be a scheduling challenge -- I can only imagine the major pain of flying home to see my family when I'm a student. It's much easier, not to mention cheaper, to hop on a direct flight to Florida from NYC or DC.

I know what you mean. I'm coming all the way from California, and scheduling my flight to Ithaca was a nightmare.js87 wrote:Damn it Cornell, why are you so geographically undesirable? Re: Cornell 2013
if you're interested in Cornell, you better get used to the idea of delayed/canceled flights. I have yet to have a flight into Ithaca or out that hasn't been delayed/canceled.
flying into Syracuse is always a good option, it's a much better airport, but then you have to pay for a cab or shuttle to Ithaca which isn't cheap, and extends your travel time. I also hear El Mira, Binghamton, and Rochester have decent airports, but none of them have a shuttle to Cornell like Syracuse does.

I have no problem finding flights home to any of FL's major airports i.e. Tampa International, Orlando International, Jacksonville, Miami etc. I have a car, but I know that most people get rides to various airports if you'd rather not fly out of Ithaca on trips back to FL. I haven't found travel in or out to be much of a problem.js87 wrote:Damn it Cornell, why are you so geographically undesirable? Has anyone received a Dean's Scholarship offer yet? If not, does anyone know when Cornell releases the offers (or non-offers) to those of us who were invited to apply?

Hi guys,
Does anyone have any suggestions for good apartments/apartment complexes in Collegetown? I'll pay anywhere from $700 to $1200/mo for a nice 1BR. I'm going to be in town for the first admitted student day on March 5th and figured I'd do some apartment shopping on the 6th, and TLS would be as good a place to start as any.

Re: Cornell 2013
You can check out my place. I'm moving in with some friends and my lease is up on 8/15. It's a pretty nice 1 br in lower CT, 7-8 minute walk to school, but uphill : ( I'm actually moving right around the corner, so the walk obviously hasn't been that bad. PM me if you want to check it out. At the least, it might give you some idea of what kinds of places you can expect for your price-range.vexion wrote:Hi guys,

Anyone else thinking about Hughes Hall?
I wish I could find more pictures of the place, but I have only found one on flicker of the inside of a room.
