I sent my email request to be reviewed again/negotiate to Bill Hoye, since he was the one I talked to during financial aid counseling for 30+ min and he seems to have a pretty big hand in determining/overseeing merit scholarships. Does anyone think 60K at Northwestern can be a bargaining chip to increase a 45K offer from Duke? In my email I essentially stated Duke was my top choice (which it is at this point, absolutely loved it), and that I'm basically on the verge of sending in my seat deposit and enrolling but kind of want to see if they can review me again in light of NU's scholly and I'm hoping they match it (if they exceeded it, which won't happen but we can all dream right, I'm pretty sure I'd overnight my seat deposit instantly, no hesitation lol).

Not sure if you should tell them you are about to commit with less money, have to incentivize them to give you more so you will go. Let me know how it works, I will be sending mine in a week or so.

When are we going to hear what tuition for 2010-2011 will be? After we enroll? :?

The way UT increased its tuition has me concerned about Duke.

UT is public though, and has a bad rep for increasing tuition (It was also $17k lower than Dukes for 65% or more of all students).

Withers, are you committed yet? I noticed UT's commit date is in 2 weeks, so it's decision time.

2 weeks? I heard the 30th!

EDIT: To answer your question I am a soft commit at this point. Bought a shirt, rooting for Duke tomorrow, put money down on an apartment, but just can't send off the check until I have to.

Haven't sent mine in yet, but I think Dean Hoye is TCR - I figure it'll end up on his desk one way or another anyway.

I sit here continuing to waste away at work. The majority of my coworkers have IQs that barely exceed their shoe size. I didn't exactly get this impression from folks at the ASO last weekend. I want it to be August so badly.

Mine is the 30th for Duke as well. Maybe those accepted after 1/1 got a later date?

Ugh I didn't know UTs was so soon, and now I am afraid that I won't be able to negotiate with anyone for scholarship money. I hate you Cornell, why are you taking so long!

Is the deposit deadline for sure the 30th or Duke? My letter says April 30th however I saw some other people on another thread saying the deposit deadline for Duke is the 15th. I was accepted 12/26 if that helps in terms of there being different deposit deadlines for different acceptance batches

I was accepted in early November and I know for a fact that all of the literature/forms/docs I have say that it is due on the 30th. It is possible to have different deadlines, maybe for the ED'ers?

Dual Degree summer starters have to accept earlier (the 1st or the 8th I think), but for regular JDs it is the 30th).
