Most of the good state schools require residency for the year before you apply, some the year before you matriculate.

Re: UVA Class of 2013
I knew you couldn't qualify for residency at UVA, but I thought Boalt and UCLA would give it to you after a year. Is that not accurate? Admittedly, I haven't really researched it because my GPA is too low for Boalt and I wasn't really interested in UCLA.hopefulundergrad wrote:Nope.bowie8285 wrote:is it possible to obtain in-state tuition after a year?

On a much more serious topic than housing and tuition, I have a question for the 1Ls. Are there many (organized or pick-up) basketball games among law students? Even though I chose the "beer and softball" school I'm much more of a "beer and basketball" person.

I'm guessing it might be a bit rarer amongst law students, but does anyone grapple? It'd be pretty sweet if I could find a bjj partner around my size (165).

Maybe some racquetball and a few gin and tonics to follow?

Since I'm 0L and have not met him, I'm not sure how the Senior Assistant Dean pronounces it, but the typical pronunciation is True-hee-yo. I also knew someone that went by True-hill-obowie8285 wrote:how do you pronounce Trujillo ? thanks

I met him a couple of days ago, it's the first pronunciation: True-hee-yo. Nice guy. He, Jason Dugas and Cordel Faulk are all Class of 2001, Faulk and Dugas were even in the same small section of 30 people. Now they're doing all the admitting.Stringer Bell wrote:Since I'm 0L and have not met him, I'm not sure how the Senior Assistant Dean pronounces it, but the typical pronunciation is True-hee-yo. Re: UVA Class of 2013
As Stringer said, it's the common abbreviation for Brazilian jiu jitsu. I wrestled in HS too, and in college I transitioned over to bjj. I'm not terribly good at it, but my wrestling background helps a lot. If you're interested, there are a few schools in the area and I'm thinking about giving it a whirl when I'm in town.ze2151 wrote:dailygrind wrote:I'm guessing it might be a bit rarer amongst law students, but does anyone grapple? Why the eyes? I visited this past week, trying to get a feel for the campus and the students. Loved it, had a great time in Charlottesville, and could definitely see myself next year.avacado111 wrote:are you going to uva next year?Kretzy wrote:I met him a couple of days ago, it's the first pronunciation: True-hee-yo. Barring an admit at SLS, Yale or Chicago, I think I'll be at one of UVA or Michigan next year.

I thought the eyes were cute. It's like wearing glasses.
Congrats on the acceptance. I'm actually leaning more towards UVA next year.
