I've been thinking about how to go about negotiating for more scholarship $$ at Mich, and I'm wondering if I should try in person (as opposed to a letter/email) since I'm going to be there for ASW next week. Any opinions on this?

I have heard a number of positive stories about personal interactions yielding more $$. purely anecdotal but if you're good in person I say go for itAmelie wrote:I received the email this morning, too.

If Susan Estrich is to be trusted (see link below), then it just might work. Good luck!!Amelie wrote:I received the email this morning, too.

I was just trying to assess your possible level of success in leveraging financial aid money in person. I didn't want them for myself or anything, trying to be helpful.Amelie wrote:Not desperate enough yet. Re: Michigan Class of 2013
so some of the student orgs will be having a coffee after the thursday dinner at amer's on church street. It'll be happening at around 7pm or thereabouts.
I encourage you guys to come by. It's a big enough place that you guys can hang by yourselves but there will be other admits there as well as current students (including me!).

I'd be interested to see how this goes for you. You'd essentially have to be bumped to a Darrow, since I don't think you can get a Dean's Scholarship past the $67k you were already offered...Amelie wrote:I received the email this morning, too.

if anyone on here strikes it rich with this new approach, feel free to distribute some of the proceeds to those of us who supported the ideastarstruck393 wrote:I'd be interested to see how this goes for you. ann arbor >>> charlottesville, michigan sports (even when horrible) >>> UVA sports.... slight debt bump is justified. bring on the UVA trolls!Amelie wrote:Haha. I'm definitely not expecting the Darrow (or any increase really), but I figure it can't hurt to ask. I'm hoping maybe they'll bump me up to a higher number, even though Dean's Scholarships are usually capped a 67k. I really like Michigan, but the extra $$ from UVA is seeming kind of significant... debt scares me.JRMjr wrote:if anyone on here strikes it rich with this new approach, feel free to distribute some of the proceeds to those of us who supported the ideastarstruck393 wrote:I'd be interested to see how this goes for you. I tend to agree. I just hope Michigan decides to love me as much as I love themJRMjr wrote:
