Re: UVA Class of 2013
In a rush to get everything in line for the upcoming move, I decided to buy a cable modem w/Amazon for $50 or so. I just noticed that Comcast gives them for free after a rebate. It's Ubee modem. Anyone have any experience with these? The one I ordered was: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WI ... ss_product . I don't know much about internets, and whether the cable modem affects connectivity issues...

Re: UVA Class of 2013
The tuition loan eligibility is held constant to the full cost of tuition. The amount of the deposit is credited (already) to our accounts, so when we get our loan refunds, our bill (the amount which will be withheld from us, leaving the balance to be refunded) will be $1,000 less than it would otherwise, and so we do "get the money back" just in the form of a bonus $1K in our refund disbursements.FeuerFrei wrote:But I think it's been said that we get an extra $1,000 in loans for COA since the $1000 is applied to tuitionCavalier wrote:Nope. Moved in Saturday and have been getting settled since. My new place is awesome, and so is my new 13" MBP. When's everyone else getting down here?

Moving into to Ivy Gardens on the 7th! I'm kind of bummed I won't be able to pick up my MBP until Orientation though...I can't quite remember why I picked that option. Sigh.
I know we have to meet with the manager of Ivy and get some kind of lecture before we can get the key...anyone know if we have to arrange that in advance or just show up?

I didn't want to look back through the thread to see who set up the fantasy football league so I'll just put it here at the top:
1 - Can we get anyone else in? 8 guys is a little thin, I think 12 would be more competitive. 8 is everyone has an all-star team.
2- The scoring is really QB heavy, we may want to look at that. The return yards might need knocked down too because 1pt/20 yards is steep.

I don't even go to school there yet and I think Donovan is the man.The only other noteworthy thing at this point is probably Kevin Donovan – who may well be more machine than man. Based on conversations with a lot of you all, and conversations with friends at other schools where the career services offices seems substantially less invested, it seems like we’re really lucky to have him on our side.

Meh. I'll hold back crafting an opinion of him until I see what he actually does for the C/O 2013.
I know it won't work but I'm trying to see if the Grad Centre will let me move in any day earlier than the 14th. The closer it gets ot the date, the suckier it seems to have to move in and get everything assembled on such short notice.

I'm guessing you're talking about Cavalier Computers? Can't help you out there. I went through the online store. Shipped in 3 days.5ky wrote:Did you get notification when your MBP was ready, or did you just go over there and pick it up without notification? And when did you order it? I didn't order mine until around July 17th, and I'm moving in pretty soon and I'm starting to wonder if it won't be ready when I get there.

Other things on which I will post my $.02:
- Hoping jnorsky is correct that we can use the North Grounds as soon as we have IDs. I haven't found any private gyms with a free trial. Rocky Top has monthly memberships, but it looks sketch.
Happy the UVA Law Blog is back up.
When some people get into town, let's plan something.
I might live at Shenandoah Joe for the next three years. They have killer coffee.

Once you have your IDs you'll be able to get into North Grounds no problem.
Also, Shenandoah Joe is TCR. I spent many hours studying there and absorbing their mochas.

Yeah, its me. We can definitely talk about whatever scoring changes people want to make, I have tweaked the scoring over many years to suit the kind of game I prefer but totally willing to make some changes there.joeshmo39 wrote:I didn't want to look back through the thread to see who set up the fantasy football league so I'll just put it here at the top:

As to the more people, I would be disappointed if we ended up with only 8 so we need to think about some more recruiting options. Outside of this forum though I don't have any contact with any UVA law people so I am kind of out of options until I make it to Cville.
Also, once we get everybody in, I fully plan to talk to everybody about a draft style/date that works for everybody and all.
What would you prefer with the return yards? Are you saying 20 yards is to many for 1 point, or 1 point is to high for 20 yards?
Also: Feel free to give suggestions on the QB situation as well. I'm not attached to any of the numbers.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
