I'm under the impression they come out pretty quickly on Netflix streaming, too (it may even be after a show, since some shows post almost immediately after airing).
Haha you guys are great. It would definitely be tragic, but good news! Crisis averted

I set up an account with CenturyLink/Dish instead! Apparently my apartment is facing South so they should be able to catch a signal... needless to say, Ivy management was not happy. But this means that any of my fellow Dexter fans are welcome to come over & watch Showtime anytime

I anticipate that your move-out charge is going to equal your deposit now.

Hahaha for sure. But hey, at least I'll have spent a year enjoying my time in the apartment

Now let's just hope they can catch a signal off my balcony...
On a separate note, where are the best places to buy furniture around cville? Preferably discounted places... including where to buy mattresses! Our plan is to pretty much get everything once we're down there instead of schlepping it all from Chicago... does that sound feasible or is everything kind of expensive around there? I'm willing to drive an hour away if necessary!

Dailygrind found a mattress place around here I think (or he's getting it shipped from a warehouse for a decent price); you may want to PM him.
As for furniture, if you're not picky, Craigslist actually offers a fairly large selection, sometimes at reasonable prices (and every now and then, for free). I wouldn't get a couch (or things with lots of fabric) from Craigslist, but for a dining set, desk, etc., it should work. For example: --LinkRemoved--
[Sorry I can't be more helpful, my apartment came furnished.]
There's an Ikea at Potomac Mills. It's a little over a two hour drive, but if you need a lot of furniture & don't want to spend a ton of money, it can't be beat. Closer to home, there's a Wal-Mart & a Target on 29, but be sure to shop as soon as possible - undergrads are known to clear these stores entirely out of essentials like desks and desk chairs. Wal-Mart has a Site-to-Store option where they'll deliver furniture to your local Wal-Mart for free. Their Canopy line is actually pretty decent (--LinkRemoved--) - just be sure to make friends with someone who has a truck if you get any of their larger pieces.

Haha. I think your revision is credited. If I remember correctly, VW gave the heads up on NTC being garbage as far back as Dec/Jan.

As much as it pains me to not have the chance to get better cable/satellite options, I guess it's not the end of the world: I lived in Penn's housing for all 4 years (in the Quad no less), and never had cable growing up. I found at Penn I never had the time to watch that many shows when they were actually aired anyway, I wound up watching them online anyway via Netflix or STC. Honestly the things that I really cared to have HD for (when the olympics/superbowl/other major network tv events) were broadcast, so I managed to survive...
That being said, my host for ASW had an apartment on the same plane of the complex as mine (the most east-ish facing side) and was able to get DISH. The apartment is slightly on a tilt to the N/S axis so it might be able to work. Who knows?

Get on your parent's plan. It's probably cheaper and better than anything you could find.

Wish I could do that. Currently researching. The UVA one is good -- expensive, but the deductible is very low.

For those that did enroll in Aetna plan, Did you have to pay the full year upfront? I tried to register but it wants my credit card. I like my money.

My parents' plan is a lot worse than the Aetna one, but it's also free for me.
Are you able to get on your parents plan because of the passing of the health care legislation?

Has UVA released the stats for the class of 2011 OCI? If not, that is extremely sketchy, even cornell has released their data.

I did the four installments plan. So I paid about $500. Once I get my loan money I was going to just pay the rest in one lump sum.

1) No, they haven't.
2) They never have. It isn't an ITE policy. UVA has never published statistics about OGI for its students or for others. Plenty of schools don't, it's not like we're all waiting for other schools to finalyl get around to doing it. "even Cornell has"? wtf.
Take off the tinfoil hat.
Don't do it! He/she just wants to get into your mind!

I thought about doing that Doritos. Did they charge your account immediately or will they charge it after the service begins in August?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
