Thanks for that link, badwithpseudonyms. I have a couple of email accounts devoted to signing up for things likely to result in spam, but this service seems like an even better idea.badwithpseudonyms wrote: I'll definitely take advantage of the student offer at Amazon, but if you ever need a fake email for anything else: http://10minutemail.com/10MinuteMail/index.html
Regarding that ATL article, I don't think the UVA student deserved that vitrolic response. There was no reason to single out UVA - what responsible law school career services website is going to post something that does not flatter an employer ITE, especially one that takes our 1Ls?
I think Ellie just can't bear to read, even for a few paragraphs, something that is not written in the irony-infused, detached tone that is so overused nowadays.

I'm abandoning Comcast and switching to Embarq, I think. Fuck Comcast and their rising rates and repeated attempts to bandwidth-cap.

I've had this model for three or four years now and haven't had any problems with it. The average cost of a modem is about $50, unless you get a refurbished one. In that case you could buy it for almost half the price.
Edit: I forgot to mention, when you install a new modem, you'll need to call your internet service provider to give them the "MAC address" on the back of the modem. That way, they can recognize it on their systems as belonging to you and grant you internet access. It might save you some frustration. I know when I installed my first modem, I spent an hour going crazy trying to figure out what I did wrong when I couldn't connect to the internet.

That was seriously perfect timing. I've been looking for a modem. Thanks.

Indeed. I still find it pretty incomprehensible. I previously thought the worst cable provider had to be this company in Houston that is the only option in a few apartment complexes called TV Max. With TV Max you can have HD or DVR, but not both. NTC seems to even be a rung below that.D Brooks wrote:Haha weren't you ranting earlier about not living in Ivy precisely because of that reason?Stringer Bell wrote:NTC looks pretty sweet. Is anyone else having trouble with email/IT stuff? I keep changing my email password from the random one they give you but it won't accept my new one the next time I try and log in. Law Web also rejects me, I enter the username with my initials in it and have tried both the random password they generate and the new one I keep trying to use - keeps saying incorrect username/password. Am I crazy? Anyone else having similar issues?

I had trouble at first. I think I generated 3 or 4 random passwords before the system found one it consistently accepted. I've stuck with that one since.UVA2013 wrote:Is anyone else having trouble with email/IT stuff? Did UVA take down the article?? I wonder if it was in response to the ATL post.Kohinoor wrote:I may be in a cynical mood today but it seems pretty kind for an ATL post. Yeah, the link to the article no longer works. I'm sure it was in response - maybe the student requested it. Fortunately, I saw that coming and saved a copy on my computer.slider wrote:Did UVA take down the article?? I'll probably try to sneak into this despite not being a 1L anymore. I love both Kurosawa films and anything hosted by Professor Coughlin, so...slider wrote:Optional Orientation event on Sunday at 3pm.howcani111 wrote:? movie night?jdavid901 wrote:I probably will, as long as I can still make it to the movie night with Anne Coughlin.badwithpseudonyms wrote:Anyone else planning on doing the 1L Public Service Day?
