oh, come on guys. You don't have to be so melodramatic. Somebody else said, "you'll do better in law school if you're happy." JcW strikes me as the kind of guy who's going to be happy wherever he goes. He really can't go wrong either way.

I'm old enough to have at least a tiny bit of perspective here, and while this is a big decision for all of us, it's not life or death.

Will you guys have a car on campus? Since I live too far to drive, I was thinking of selling mine and then buying a new one once I arrive in Austin. However, I'm not so sure how beneficial having a car would be. Thoughts?

Depends on where you live. A car always increases your quality of life though.

Agreed. The best thing about Austin is the close proximity of the hill country and city/downtown scene. They are about 20-30 minutes apart... a tad bit too far to bike.

I live about 8 minutes walk from the school. I might use my car to drive 5-10 miles a week. However, having a car can be invaluable and save you a lot of time (e.g., groceries, hardware store trip, etc.). ATX has a decent bus system, which I use to get downtown to go drinking on a regular basis, but it's nothing I would want to rely on regularly.
