The Career Services Office at the University of Virginia School of Law is seeking a Director of Law Firm Recruiting. The Director provides career counseling services to both students and alumni of the Law School, serves as a liaison to law firms, provides oversight of job fairs, manages remote interviewing events and Career Services Office initiatives, and develops law firm related programming.
Anyone have a take on this? Good? Bad? Not really a big deal?
I think they're expanding the size of the career services department. Until I heard otherwise I'd assume this is an additional hire, not someone being sacked and replaced.
That makes me feel a lot better.
And first on the Orientation email!

I spend money like a crack addict and my parents are none to pleased that they foot/are footing the bill for both deposits, my move, my car maintenance, and my first month's rent.
Should I expect to have to ask the for book money as well?

PS to anyone else scrambling to do it fast, if it's a true/false question, the answer is always true, and if there are multiple answers, "all of the above" or the choice that includes the most answers is TCR.

Has anyone else not heard anything from the school about their plus loans? I applied and passed the credit check three weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet. I'm I missing some step between passing the credit check and getting the award from UVa?

I finally activated my Virginia email account. I was successfully able to create an
alias@virginia.edu even though the instructions made it seem like I wouldn't be able to. I know there was a lot of discussion about this several weeks back, so for those people who couldn't make one before, you might want to try again now.

Is this a simple thing to do? Can you just got to the bookstore, pick up the books, and charge them to your ID at check out? Or is this something that needs to be worked out in advance?

Buying books online - ever brand new books - is a lot cheaper than getting them from the bookstore.

Do we know exactly which texts we will be using for each course yet? Will it matter at all if we don't get the books until a few days into fall semester if we buy them online?

Unfortunately you won't know until sections are released, unless every section of a 1L class is using the same casebook (this happened with criminal law last year). However, as long as you don't make any markings in a casebook bought from the bookstore, you can return it after the semester starts, so you can buy the books from the bookstore and use them while you wait for the online books to arrive. You definitely need the books before classes start though, or else you'll look like an idiot when the professor calls on you and you haven't done the reading.

how long does it take for UVA SIS to update its record to show that I did my loan counseling? I finished mine a few days ago, but still it says incomplete.
