Re: WUSTL Class of 2013
So for Goldwasser's torts the hypo-case refers to the defendant as a "converter".
I couldn't find a definition for "converter" in this context. Anyone know what this means?
Edit:
Also, is this the appropriate thread for this or is there another thread where we are supposed to talk about actual school things?

Pretty sure it means that Keeton (however "in good faith" it was) wrongfully purchased this watch and was therefore liable to pay/return the watch. Feel free to tell me I'm completely wrong haha.

Re: WUSTL Class of 2013
Think of conversion like theft, but not exactly (theft is almost the criminal equivalent). Conversion is denying a rightful owner their rights to property (my paraphrased definition from memory, so I could be wrong). Basically, someone who either takes (with the intention of denying the owner use) or destroys another's property is a converter.fl0w wrote:So for Goldwasser's torts the hypo-case refers to the defendant as a "converter".

Re: WUSTL Class of 2013
From Black's Law Dictionary found on Westlaw:
converter, n. One who wrongfully possesses or disposes of another's property; esp., one who engages in a series of acts of willful interference, without lawful justification, with an item of property in a manner inconsistent with another's right, whereby that other person is deprived of the use and possession of the property.
innocent converter. A person who takes another's chattel tortiously but in good faith and without knowledge that he or she has no entitlement to it.

I really hope this thread keeps going, so I'd totally be down for turning this into a big melting pot of social and academic discussion.

What's the general consensus on supplements? It seems like there are a lot of recommendations here on TLS (hornbooks, Emanuels, etc.). Some of it is pretty expensive, even on Amazon

I'm definitely gonna get Chirelstein for Contracts and Dobbs Hornbook for Torts. Haven't had Property yet so I'll have to check that one out.

Nope, they hinted at them but never came out and said them. I'm looking forward to hearing them.mte84 wrote:did wustl release class of 2013 numbers at orientation?

Re: WUSTL Class of 2013
I didn't see anything about an RSVP... my mentor just sent me an email and told me about the event. I plan on going. Let me know if you find out about the need to RSVP.folgers wrote:Anyone headed to the mentor mixer on Wednesday? My email said I needed to rsvp online, but I can't find the link anywhere. Who is planning to go to the game on Friday? I wasn't going to since the Cardinals are just absolutely terrible right now, but the possibility of getting to go down on the field lured me in. Who else is going?
