i played IM sports while i was in undergrad there. The league is actually a lot of fun. People make up great names for their teams, often get custom t-shirts made, and take the IM sports pretty seriously (well as seriously as you can take IM sports). IM flag football was a REALLY good time. I did IM soccer and ultimate frisbee too. There's a lot out there and if you find a group ready to have fun, it's a blast.

I found a few websites... http://intramuralsports.wustl.edu/
which looks like the most legit page, but I didn't spend too much time on it...
Also --LinkRemoved--

I'm excited to try a group fitness class or two at the gym. Unless I find a good studio nearby.

Thanks for the link.

I didn't get a chance to check it out, but heard from my campus tour-guide that the law school gym is "sub-par". Anyone have any first-hand sightings?

There isn't a law school specific gym, but you can work out at the athletic complex. If you're really into working out and having a wide selection of machines, etc you'll be disappointed. If you're like me - merely avoiding weight gain while being really cheap - you'll be fine with it. It's only $35 for the whole year to have a pass for grad students, which seals the deal for me. All I do is the elliptical though.

Also, don't worry about driving in snow is St Louis. Very good about salting and clearing the roads. You can take my word for it; I'm from Los Angeles and was initially freaked out. Don't count on any snow days either.

Also, for the golf enthusiasts among us - I got a chance to play nine holes before my campus tour at the Forest Park Golf Course. The course (27 holes, I think) is literally right across the street from campus (although about a 5 min drive from AB Hall), and it's decent enough. It cost me $25 to play nine with a cart and rented clubs. Looking forward to hitting the links with some of you in the fall.
Count me in. I'm not exactly Tiger Woods, but I'm decent (I'll keep it in the 80s) and I love to play. A few of my good friends are on the golf team at my undergrad and they are originally from St. Louis, and they tell me St. Louis has some pretty nice courses around the area.

This may be a problem [distraction] for me.

I'm glad they have carts though, when I drove by the course I saw a lot of walkers. I wasn't sure if they had carts. It's hard to schlep your bag and a cooler of beer at the same time if you're walking.

+1. I have already skipped too many classes this semester to play golf. Although, I don't actually mind walking... its good exercise.

+1 for golf. Oh and beer is not a problem if walking 3-4 tall boys in the bag isn't so much weight, but usually the ice must be neglected. Developing a taste for hot beer is the hard part.

Why lug warm beer around when you can attach COLD beer and keep it with you?!?!

I should have thought of this... I'd be a millionaire and laughing at the 6 figure debt I'm about to rack up. When they asked me how I planned to pay tuition, in the immortal words of Randy Moss I would reply "Straight cash, homie."

Uh... Actually... I believe that particular model is called the "Wine Rack"... Sorry, but accuracy counts. (I actually hadn't seen that before... I snickered when the website popped up.)

lol wine rack is a nicer name than beer bra so... I concur that accuracy, in this situation, does indeed count.

i'm getting geeked about playing golf with you guys.

does the course have a driving range? a putting green you can chip on? does it offer a yearly pass?

I think having a course next to school will make my life much less stressful. i've lived in dc, without a car, for the last few years, so i haven't been able to place as much as I wish.

I think I might have to get a yearly pass. I'll have to add a line to my financial aid spreadsheet that I've been working on: "Golfing Expenditures." Might have to take out another $500 in Grad Plus loans, but its totally worth it.

well just remember wustl gives you 1000 free pages of printing plus unlimited lexisnexis/westlaw printing, plus a free metro pass thing. so you're saving all that money there...

Is the bolded true? When I asked they said we didn't get free printing, aside from lexisnexis/westlaw. Although I did only ask my 1L tour guide so maybe he was confused?

I asked my 2L tourguide. she said she usually prints from home, though, so she could also be confused.

(she was on law review... outted by a student to us as next year's editor... summer internship at doj... impressed me)

1000 free pages, that's it??? Geez, I think we're going to chew through that in about a month! The quota was 3k at some of the other schools I looked at... guess I just assumed it was universal.

Talk about adding another line to the spreadsheet... I'm gonna have to take out a GradPLUS just for printing.

1000 pages for stuff not on lexis and westlaw. that's unlimited.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
